Greetings Superman Fans- Become An Honorary Citizen of Metropolis!


The Superman Celebration is fast approaching – we hope you will be able to attend!

Here it a new activity added to this year’s celebration:


Visitors may become Honorary Citizens of Metropolis during the Superman Celebration June 11-14.


Superman fans will have the chance to become an “Honorary Citizen of Metropolis” during this year’s Superman Celebration. Citizen certificates will be available for purchase ($20.00) at the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce during the Celebration June 11-14 in Metropolis, Illinois.


Owners of these certificates will have the chance to stand at the Superman Statue and be “sworn in” by Metropolis Mayor Billy McDaniel. “We think that our fans will love the opportunity to be officially sworn in,” said Celebration Co-Chairperson Karla Ogle. She says that she is sure many fans will want to frame their certificates and display them in their homes or add to their collections.


There will be two swearing-in ceremonies to accommodate visitors on different days. Mayor McDaniel will meet with the “honorary citizens” at the Superman Statue at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 14.

MSCA alum and GCS Fan Favorite Mike Norton will be a guest artist, along with comic writers John Ostrander, Gail Simone, Josh Elder, and actors Noel Neill, Justin Hartley, Phil Morris, and Beverly Washburn. John O will be doing a Writers Workshop in Artists Alley/Writers Way, and all of the comics guests will be on panels and Q&A's- as well as be available for autographs all weekend.
