I for one (and I'm 99% sure Jimmy's with me on this) would love it if Mongoose brings his special home brew again next year. drunk1.gif

I didn't actually try it, since I watched Paul, Heroesmask, and the Half Hour Wasted boys recoil from it like they had just been flashed gay child porn. Plus, we were already in a bar. We Canadians would consider it rude to drink outside liquor (and I use the term loosely) in a bar.

And here's ANOTHER favorite moment of mine:

When Murd told me that he didn't buy many books at Supershow this year, but he made a point to pick up MIMES.

That meant a lot.

As many of you mentioned this weekend, I almost didn't go to the SuperShow. I had a great time last year at 300 and all year I really wanted to go back, but as the time got closer, my job got crazier and my weekends were totally booked from mid-July to mid-September, I started thinking that maybe Mr. Mario could make this trip without me. That said, I'm really, really glad I went. You are a remarkable group of guys (and a few ladies) and are some of the funniest, kookiest, most genuine people I've ever met.

Up until a few of years ago, I hung out with a group of theater people who were witty and brash and all ages, shapes and sizes. The theater closed, my two best friends moved to Texas of all places (sorry Frank, Brad and Jun!) and I now hang out with a totally different group of people who are all my age and younger and all fairly similar. They play too many video games, watch too much youtube and are not great conversationalists. Being with you all takes me back to the old days. Thanks for showing a girl a good time.

Some of my favorite things about the Super Show:

My roomie - Dave Dwonch. You are one funny dude. You kept me up way too late planning Mario's television comeback but it was great.

Driving drunken Mario, Peter, Buzz and Dwonch around on Friday night. It was totally worth being the DD that first night to listen to the crazies in the backseat. Buzz had a story that ended with the word "poopshoot" and Buzz and Dave lived the rest of Peter's life for him all in a 5 minute span.

Chatting with JunBob over the noise and the nasty waitresses at The Works. You're the sweetest. Get some sleep!

Balloons by Pasquale. You sir, do something that few people can do, you bring pure unadulterated joy to people. Your balloon creations are amazing and really make me totally happy every time I see them.

Charlito - Your puppet show made me laugh so loud people turned and stared and, even though we only got to chat for a second on Saturday night, I really enjoyed talking to you. I LOVE that you got an Owly balloon. That is adorable.

Jimmy X- You are one cool cucumber. I just read the story of how you met your sister that was linked from your blog. I laughed, I cried, I suggest anyone that doesn't know the story read it immediately here. You are a great storyteller. I'm sure you are an equally great big brother.

Seeing lots of people I met last year like all the Geeks, Hesse, JustBill (did you know your name sounds like an apology?), Norton, Wayne, Vince and Marty, Adam, Brad, Frank (your hair looks great!), Steve Bryant, Ian, Raph, Green Skeleton and Beth and Paul and meeting more like Danielle, Brent and wife, Kaptain Sequential, Avery and many others.

Filthy McMonkey. You were everything I enjoy in my weekends all rolled into one: unexpected, crude, drunken, apologetic, friendly and shiny. I can't believe you live in Stratford.

4 a.m. parking lot 'shine.

TheFreakyTiki's acceptance speech and the tribute to Lem. Both made me glad that I had on waterproof mascara.

The 501st rocked. I really enjoyed their presentation a lot and I got my photo taken with a stormtrooper which might not be that exciting for all of you con-goers but it was really cool for me.

Peter dancing with the cougar, sleeping in the booth and forgetting his vagina on the seat.

My only regret, besides eating cheesesticks at 4 in the morning, was who I didn't get to talk to at all. I see so many of you in passing, know that you are probably funny shits, and don't get to really have conversations with you. When I look at all of these photos I'm really bummed by all the people I didn't get to know. I guess there is always cgsss09.

I'd like to post a big itemized report of why SuperShow was awesome, but I can NEVER remember stuff on the spot.

I'll just say it was great to see all the people I've met before. It was great to meet everybody I hadn't yet... and if I didn't meet you, then I hope we do next time.

All the geeks are alsways so nice and I will be part of this show as long as it's around and they'll have me. Thanks to Bryan (who is still insane to be doing this, in my opinion)... Peter for always checking to see if "things are going all right"... Jamie D for hangin' out talking... Kev for gettin' me pizza and trying to kill Soto with his cat (I'll get you yet, Soto!!!)... Shane, Pants, and Murd for always being cool... and Matt for carting me around and letting me sleep in his big scary house (now complete with 2nd awesomest dog ever!)

Fun show, guys. Congrats on the well deserved success.

That picture makes it look like Peter's trying to talk his dick into it.

"You just get up and do your job, Peenies! Come on, I have to look manly in front of the guys, man!"

Anybody else forget their pint glass at 3rd and Spruce?

I just realized this morning that I left my pint glass on the floor of my rental car. I put it there because it still had drink residue in it and I never picked it up. I think it rolled under the passenger seat and I missed it. crying_anim02.gif

Hopefully Bry has some left that will be sold at next year's show.

Some "stream of consciousness' recollections from the CGSSS weekend:

FRIDAY

Wandering up to a locked door at 3rd and Spruce and having Buzz throw it open for me and Vince.

Making the decision not to plant my fat arse on a stool all night and wander around a little bit.

Talked religion for a fair amount of time with Mario, Jenn and Vince...and there was no yelling.

Wandered up to the jam piece to check it out. Someone suggested, "Why don't you draw something next?' I considered it briefly until I found out
the guy I'd be following is David "freking" Petersen...so I excused myself and curled-up in the opposite corner near JustBill.

Meeting Filthy McMonkey and the shiniest outfit this side of Captain America.

Finally meeting the enigmatic Citizen Dave Wachter. He's smaller than I imagined, but a whole lot deeper.

Meeting my migraine brother Tony G and chatting a little bit, too little really.

Seeing a happy MO!

Catching up with Kevin Moyer, the guy is a good egg.

Greeting Brad and Frank and getting one of Brad's hugs.

Catching up with Mongoose again, unfortunately without the squeeze this time.

Seeing JunBob and Erica again, without oversized boxing gloves.

I actually made it to the bar this year!

Watching the Phils-Mets game on TV with Murd and planning my escape from the CGS NY crowd if the Phils choked.

Meeting each one of the Geeks again and having them welcome me like I was the guest of honor.

Seeing my fellow CGS stalker Ian again.

RAPH RADIA!

Ogling a very pretty girl, along with a bunch of other geeks that shall remain unnamed, until we realized it was Kevin's daughter...DOH!

After taking along my camera for every other CGS event, I finally remembered to use the damn thing.

I don't know if it's the commemorative glass or what, but I discovered that I can nurse a glass of Coke for almost 2 hours without melting the ice.

Meeting up with our fellow "Gang of Six" roomie JustBill and then meeting our other roomie Mike Imoden for the first time.

Playing Magic the Gathering with Vince in the hotel lobby until 3 AM...with a drunken audience.

SATURDAY

Meeting Iacon, and his pink shirt, in the hotel hallway.

Getting to the show before the official opening and then photographing the show prep.

Watching certain Geeks dive into the 50 cent and back issue boxes before the crush came in.

Meeting Brent and watching him draw like a bastard on an actual brown paper bag.

After just Emails and forum posts, finally meeting Kevin Freeman in the flesh.

Meeting Big Jim, talked some Brothers Grunt and perused his AWESOME sketchbook (Fear Agent!)

Talkin' Old Forge pizza and property values with the Dean Bruce Rosenburger and his son.

Picked up Liberty Belle sketches from Brent, Erica and Katie. All of 'em bee-yoo-tee-fool!

Got to pick out a free trade from IST courtesy of the Geeks, grabbed Green Lantern: Willworld by Dematteis and the late, great Seth Fisher.

Meeting Bryan's brother and looking at his awesome Comic Cubes.

Mongoose Dog and his 3D porno comic book from the Craptacular Comic Exchange.

Free soft pretzels! (Thanks GhostWriter.)

My very first visit to a WaWa store. Surprisingly, they make a better than average cheese steak.

Finding out my name is a product gag in the sold out comic book M.I.M.E.S. Thanks Harold and Wayne.

Meeting Shawn from Angry Gnome...a VERY nice fella, and he had comp issues of Short Stack #2! TWINS!

While I was in the men's room with Vince (no, we weren't holding each other's pee-pees), we finally met dynamic Charlito.

Adding goofy doodles to sketchbooks for Wayne and Lin...I hope I didn't completely destroy your books guys.

Meeting Jon Carroll, but never having the time to do a sketch for him. I brought home a blank card intending to make amends.

Having the honor of introducing the episode, and then emptying my colon in fear to the bellow of "Asian Power".

The sketch card exchange...I sure did get better than I gave. Eliza's painted Batgirl is BOFFO!

Talking to the amazing Steve Bryant and having him request a drawing from me! ME! Oh my God.

Being asked to autograph comic books featuring my artwork...for real!

Meeting the very nice David and Julia Petersen and hearing them tell me I'm the very first costumed Lieam they've ever seen.

Finally getting to The Works. Me and Vince managed to get the sole cute and pleasant waitress in the joint it seems, and the food was good.

I'm sure there's plenty things and people I'm forgetting. My apologies, I tried to do this straight off the top of my head.
It was a great time!

Okay, here they are in no particular order:

As I first got to my room, those first shouts of hello from Frank down the hall, followed by meeting all the ridiculously awesome Texas crew in their room.

That first night at 3rd and Spruce was outstanding. It was great seeing everybody in one place and meeting a bunch of people at the same time.

Driving around and around in circles, three times over the weekend, in different cars with different drivers each time. There's something wrong with those roads!

Watching the podcast from the comfort of my table: the touching tribute to Lem, Charlito's insane musical, and Paul's kick-ass song.

Dinner at The Works with Tony, Chad, and the DCBS guys. Zack, if Cameron asks, tell him I order all my books from him. Under an assumed name. Through an offshore account. With post dated checks.

Seeing BruceR again. We never get to talk enough. It was cool meeting Bruce's son.

Meeting JustBill and deciding that he may be allowed to live.

Hanging out front with Chris Pitzer and Fred Chao in the beautiful weather sunday morning, contemplating skipping the show and having a picnic instead. But we had no frisbee.

Talking the Old West with Lance.

Finally meeting the other head of the two-headed beast that is VinceMarty. Just more for me to love.

Working on Kevin Freeman's jam comic.

Hanging with Bruce and Michael Finger at 3rd and Spruce. We found it, again, finally!

Trading dirt with Steve Bryant. I always want to hug Steve, is that so wrong?

Raph as the show's Tasmanian Devil, it was electrifying.

Meeting TV's Mario. It felt like we had met many times already.

Brent made some sweet art on that brown paper, I'm really looking forward to reading Astronaut Dad.

Tony G is an awesome buddy to have. I think he may be my conscience.

Dave Dwonch is a drunken bastard. But cute as a button.

Fred Chao is such immense fun to hang with. Johnny Hiro is the shit.

JunBob was constantly happy when I saw him and that's infectious. Even when he's wrong, his art is sooo right.

what's with me grouping together the asians. that's not cool!

Big Jim's wit is superb and the cartoons in his sketchbook are tight!

Family style italian with the stragglers Sunday night, and the journey to get there. It was a fun, low key final night.

A great conversation with Deemer as he drove me to the train station Monday morning. Among other things, he may have rescued The Guns of Shadow Valley.

Hanging in Philly for a few hours by myself before my flight. Loitering around City Hall on a sharp clear day, I met several people randomly and had fairly long talks on assorted subjects with two of them. Even with the luggage, people ask me for directions.

Dan aka Station, huge thanks for sponsoring my table and giving me the opportunity to draw Dr. Strange again and Mephisto for the first time. It was great to meet and talk with you and your bro!

All those who pre-ordered sketches and those who got a sketch at the show. It's nice to know there are people out there who like my work enough to want to pay too much money for it.

I know I'm leaving people out and not recounting everything, because it just too much to type, I've been working on this thing long enough! So I'll give shout outs to all the people I can think of right now: Pasquale! Ian! Dave"Gargoyle" all the way from the UK! Filthy McMonkey, you are awesome! Thanks for the Canuck Rum! Harold Jennet, Shawn"OptimusBlack"! Buzz! Alan"New Mutant"! Jimmy! Radio Wayne! Tack, all the way from down under! Neutron11! gland! ShawnL! Ed"ghostwriter"! MongooseDog! Sean and Jim!! James! Russell! Matt! Adam"MelvillesFist"! JonCarroll! Krispin! Lin! And Everybody else!! I met nothing but cool people all weekend. Not a bad one in the bunch!

Massive amounts of thanks and gratitude to all the geeks: Matt, Shane, Jamie, Kevin, Murd, Pants, Peter, and Bryan. You guys were incredibly welcoming. All the assorted stuff like rides and food, scheduling, organizing, promoting and the million other things you guys did made this thing go so well and so smoothly. Not to mention the incredible warmth and camaraderie you guys offer and engender in others. You guys were excellent hosts and are outstanding ambassadors of this community.

I can't wait to do it again next year!

Jeebuz...that may have been my longest post EVER. I just shifted my noodle into neutral and let it fly.
I could say so much more, but i think it would ruin the spirit of the flow post.
Thanks to everyone and everything from the weekend...best show/con I've ever experienced.
BTW: I still don't have my voice back, I shredded it on Saturday howling like a gibbon.

Yeah, you completely shattered my illusions of who you are... you actually are an incredibly nice, super cool dude! Who woulda thunk it! laughingsmiley.gif Sorry I didn't chat more, but y'know, that whole "in person" thing kicks in my social disorders the first few times I meet someone.

Anyway, thanks for the awesome Hulk! I can't believe you held it for two years, just for me!

The only downside to all of this... what am I gonna do with my creator-owned character, "Comrade Dick" now?!? baaasmiley.gif

Too many to remember...

- Raph's parents being dead.

- Ian dancing up a storm on Dance Dance Revolution

- "It's always box number 6" - The collected CGS Deal or No Deal stratagem

- Coming up with ideas for at least two new comics while driving around with my NY homies.

- Shady Maple...should have sent a poet.

- Just Bill's boobie dance at 3rd & Spruce and the image that inspired it:

- Mongoosedog and Hoss (I think) teaching me the correct way to catch snapping turtles

- Doughnutting the Mustang in the car park on Saturday while it was pouring down

- Realising Mike Norton is at least as cool as he appears to be

- Filthy McMonkey...a man who'll do anything for a Doctor Who sticker

- The look on Jamie's face when he opened his birthday card

- Hugging McPedro on the way to Danielle's car

More to come as I remember them I'm sure.

God I wish i had a video of that dance. It was pure magic. So entrancing. It was like...oh, phew, I am back. That was scary for a minute.
