There it is! Haha.

The funny thing is, the original six are pictured but you could put in the other two: Adam could be the guy pointing, Pants could be the skinny gumdrop head guy and the one of the far right could be Puppet Rios. lol

Scarlet Jo is still giving me wet dreams after seeing her in that Black Widow suit.

I haven't listened to the episode yet, but anytime Iron Man II is brought up I have an honor bound obligation to mention how EN FUEGO ScarJo is, and how particularly kick ass she was in that outfit. Oh. My. Lords.

Loved it. Better than the first, and best sequel as well. The only thing I didn't care for was having Whiplash show up in the armor at the end, I thought that was too much like having Stane in the Iron Monger suit and felt like a step backwards. Fortunately they didn't drag that out.

Loved the pacing, they gave the characters and actors room to breathe (totally agree with you guys on the snappy dialogue, that was a highlight of the film for me), which made the action scenes have that much more punch when they came around. Loved Rockwell's performance, that was a huge surprise for me. I'm not too familiar with Hammer in the comics, but I liked this "stuck in Tony's shadow/wants to be Tony" approach that they took.

Favreau has mentioned that he thinks he'd do Mandarin for a third film, which I hope he follows through on because I think they need to move away from armored villains now. BTW did anyone else think that the guy who gave Whiplash his forged documents was an agent of the Mandarin?

Already planning on seeing it again this weekend with some friends who couldn't make it last week. Two big thumbs up thumbsup_anim.gif

Gallagher is a performance comedian who smashed watermelons (and other stuff) at the end of his act onto the audience:

The Filmmakers have confirmed that it was an agent of the Ten Rings that set up Vanko with the plane tickets and info on Stark in Monaco. Yes, bring on the Mandarin....Please.

Have just returned from the movie and am well pleased.

Had the optimal seat in a very empty theater for a matinée.

It felt like my very own private showing... and I couldn't be happier!
(The ScarJo induced boneage would have been mucho embarrassing in a crowd.)

Heh.

I think that Jamie's thoughts on the movie really do echo my own for the most part, though I'm a bit more extreme in my disappointment. This movie was a lot of fun, but I feel like there was an enormous drop off in quality from the first movie. In fact, I would probably go so far as to say that this is the weakest Marvel Studios movie. That's right, I'd actually put the Incredible Hulk above Iron Man 2! Which is not to say that Iron Man 2 is a crappy movie, I just feel like Iron Man 1 and Hulk were much better made.

Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansen were both wasted (Rourke was underdeveloped, and ScarJo was underused except for that one scene,) the script lacked the intelligence of its predecessor (but not its wit or charm, if that makes sense,) and it just felt sloppy.

I think 3/5 makes sense. It was just half baked, compared to the other one, and I actually don't feel any great need for them to make an Iron Man 3 if the quality is going to drop between sequels this much. More RDJ as Tony Stark is always welcome, but save the next dose of Iron Man action for the Avengers.

Now, on the positive side, it WAS a summer movie done right! I'm going to see it again, because I saw it at midnight and thus was really tired, so it wasn't horrible or anything. I just know that the studio, cast and crew are capable of oh so much more!

Anyone who thinks it is better than the first is WRONG BECAUSE I AM RIGHT!!!!

(Not really.)

Favaraux said that most of the tweets about Iron Man 2 are asking about the wierd tanning stains on Hammers Palms why he is eating with Whiplash.

Wow. I was surprised to read this and hear one of the geeks echo your sentiments, as well. My moviegoing experience was so much better the first time. I had a smile on my face the whole time for Iron Man 1. This time I was fidgeting the whole time waiting for it to really get started. Of course, I haven't gone back and seen the first one again so maybe it wouldn't hold up as well for the second viewing.

And while I was disappointed with the villains in this one, I was glad they held off on Mandarin. Now when they use him in IM3, the build-up should only have helped.

I haven't listened to the episode yet but I enjoyed this movie. I thought it was a great progression from the first movie. I liked how the armor and the power source in Tony's chest was actually doing him harm and part of the movie had to do with him finding a safer permanent substitute to what he was using. I also liked the whole "legacy" theme to this movie when it came to the relationship between Tony and his father. It was used just enough without it be underplayed and I liked it. I also liked Ivan Vanko's motive also had to do with legacy issues dealing with his father and how it linked with Tony's father as well.

I liked Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer. I felt that he was a bit cheesy in parts but I guess that was the point of the role. I don't know. Samuel L. Jackson was.....well Samuel L. Jackson I guess. I liked his part in the movie. He did just enough with the role and was there it seemed to point Tony in the right direction and whatnot. Scarlet Johansson. Not a fan. She's nice to look at but I've never been impressed with her as an actress but I didn't think she brought much to the role. Then when you consider that Emily Blunt could have been the Black Widow, it made me sad:

Overall, I thought the movie was good. I'm listening to Jamie D's opening statements about the movie and I do agree with him. Especially about the villains. It wasn't bad but it could have been much better and I think I liked the first one better. Still, there was more that I liked than I didn't like and it wasn't so much that there weren't things I didn't like but maybe a bit disappointed in certain aspects. Overall, good movie. Not as good as the first one but the last scene after the credits was awesome.

Jaydee - your post made it click why Scarlet didn't work for me in this role. Because unlike RDJr as Tony (and Tobey as Peter Parker, and Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne), I can't separate Scarlet and Black Widow. I'm not watching Black Widow on the screen, I'm watching Scarlet AS Black Widow. I can't get beyond the actress and she certainly doesn't DO anything to make her seem like she's anything else but Scarlet acting. I too wish they could've worked it out with Emily. She looks the part and would have been more believable because you're not sitting there looking at such a name actor.

That was totally my problem with the Black Widow Peter. I just saw Scarlet and not the Black Widow. I have no idea as to how John Favreau wanted her to play the part but she played it like an emotionless drone. Those Justin Hammer robots at the end of the movie had more character than Scarlet did in her role and it took me out a bit. When you consider what a great character actress Emily Blunt is, she could have done tremendous things with the role and I can only imagine that they would have had her done a Russian accent and somehow intertwined the Black Widow and Whiplash's connection in some way. It's a shame when you think of the possibilities and what could have been.

Another thing I had heard when it pertains to Emily Blunt is that she was disappointed about not getting the role for Black Widow, she turned down a role in Captain America:

Currently listening to the podcast, one thing I wanted to comment on was the mention of why wasnt Whiplash just shot in the head during the Monaco scene. That can simply be explained by saying that it wasnt in America, police etc rarely carry guns unless there is a specific reason to in Europe.

That explains it!!

(sorry, I just had noticed "ten rings agent"[or something like that] in the credits durring the cast list and I thought I had missed some significant scene)
