Is it a full moon!?
DCUC Wave 5: Actually had good luck with this the 1st time around. Found a full set 2X at different Wal-Marts. Neither were Super Wal Marts either. After doing some heavy investigating, the strategy for ordering DCUC at Wal Marts appears to be the classic "willy-nilly". I'm glad people are getting a second shot at these but for those of you that have never ordered on MattyCollector.com: BE PREPARED. It is a bandwith nightmare. Make an account, setup a credit card DAYS before the sale. Open the window browser an hour before the sale time and try refreshing when it gets to be within 10 minutes. However, if you get the "white screen of death", adhere to it's advice: stop refreshing and wait or else you will be bumped off their queue. It's an awful awful system that a company the size of Mattel should be ashamed of. But if you want the toys, you gotta play the game.

I'm a huge DC Comics fan. I did pick up a few of the Marvel Legends when they were out, but I didn't feel the need to complete the waves as I do with the DC figures.

For me it is a little of both. I collected a bunch of Marvel Legends over time. They were the coolest Comic Book figures I ever saw once upon a time. I do collect more DC Comics than Marvel, always have. I love a lot of the characters at Marvel. I just cant get everything so I stick with my favorites, which is mostly DC.
So a couple years ago Marvel Legends moves to Hasbro, quality doesn't look so good, characters coming out don't interest me as much and at almost the same time Mattel comes out with DCU Classics. For me it was the right time to change gears and switch to the DC.

I've got no problem with the re-release of DCUC wave 5. I can understand the frustration of those folks who overpaid, even though I think paying some of the more exorbitant prices was pretty crazy. I was a lucky toy nut on the initial release of DCUC wave 5. No WM in my area carried them, but I had a friend out in Houston that was nice enough to pick up a set for me. Only charged me cost plus shipping. He even refunded me back the extra money I tried to give him for his troubles. Later on, I found out that a couple of WMs out past Baton Rouge had them, so I took the hour+ drive out to Denham Springs and Gonzales a few times and tracked down an Atom (to replace mine, which broke at the hip) and pick up a set for another friend and extras for others (cost + shipping for all) while they lasted. That same friend helped me out on wave 10 when that WM-exclusive hit. That wave also didn't hit my WMs, but the day before I was scheduled to get my set in from Houston, I had a seminar in Baton Rouge, so I got there early to hit a couple of WMs. Scored a full set for the 'want' list at Critical Mess and grabbed extras for other friends on subsequent trips.

I have to agree with this. If you're buying toys as an investment opportunity, then maybe you should re-think your portfolio strategy. Mattel, and other toy makers aren't in the business of boosting after market prices for toys. They're in the business of selling toys. So it makes sense for them to re-release figures that they think will still sell/sell again. If they sell a toy for $15, and then someone resells it for $100, Mattel doesn't get anything from that $100. They only get money from putting out more figures.
I'm glad that past figures will be made available again. I think that people should have another chance to buy figures that they missed out on. I'm hoping that other figures from past lines will be released again as well.

I'm jealous that you have the TARDIS, Shane! I have the old Dapol one, which is nice and all, but that new one just looks amazing.

What I'd really love to hear on the show is an Area reports segment. For instance: Pants, what's the DCUC situation at your TRU? Then if Shane has been on a toy run recently, lets hear what he's seeing out there. Then maybe take a few calls emails, to hear what people are finding where across the country.
I dig the previews segment. I think the spotlight on a toy line would also be a good regular segment

Me too. I hope that will be something that you do regularly. It doesn't need to be in the main CGS previews episode if its a part of toy talk. And it should be.

I just can't believe $50 that is nuts nuts nuts....I would even take a gift set with just all the different Doctors.
As for the Tardis...it is awesome I love it. In 1990 I traveled to England with school and saw a Dapol Tardis in a store but didn't have time to get it. When we went back the next day...store closed it was Sunday...never got one. Then finally almost 20 years later this one comes out and I pre-ordered that bad boy super fast. This new toy Tardis is just about one of my fav toys set up in my room.
If you get the chance.....pick one up. It is cool that you have the Dapol one though.
