I would have been there this year if not for Super Show. I used to shop at Midnight Comics in Houston when they first opened about 13 or 14 years ago. John, the owner, is a cool dude. Hopefully next year the show will not conflict with SS.

Given that the "regular" Marvel world is Earth 616, and Fantastic Four #1 came out in 1961 (cover date of November, though, but who knows when it actually came out?), it would make sense.

Don't let a bunch of gooberheaded politicians who passed a law that'll never stand up to federal inspection spoil your enjoyment of a Con that's growing larger and more fun with every year. Hell, this year Stan Lee's stopping by!
Come on down and stop by the Studio Fugazi booth when you do. We don't care if you're illegal or not...as long as you buy something (maybe I'll put THAT on our banner...

There's a theory that Moore called it 616 because under certain interpretations of biblical texts (not sure on exact details) the "Mark of the Beast" is 616, not 666. So if that's the case then it's a cute joke by Moore.
Exactly. It's going to be a great con. But I'd also add that the Feds lack of action on exporting illegals seems almost to have baited Arizona into doing this--or given them at excuse, at least. This is chess, not checkers, and I'm sure both sides love playing their their bases with "Look at how RACIST the other guys are" and "Ugh! We're not racist; we have a rampant problem with crime coming from people who happen to be illegals!" Don't get me wrong, though, I think the law is completely horrible on all levels: asking for papers to prove citizenship? awful. using race as a major criterion of who to ask? awful. On some level I hope it does cut down on crime--because they ARE having a huge problem with it in certain cities--but only BEFORE it's repealed before too long on civil liberties grounds.
But if we boycotted every institution or govt connected with anything any of us disagreed with, we wouldn't be spending much money at all. So--actually--Hm--maybe that's not a bad idea...;-)

In my heart, I think that's why AZ did what they did - the feds weren't acting, so let's pass a law that's so outlandish that it will force them to acknowledge there's a problem, and do something about it. I honestly believe it was passed with the intention it will get overturned. Unfortunately, in the process the state looks like a bunch of cracker rednecks (in actuality it's 30% Hispanic, 70% old white people who don't live here four to five months out of the year, and Me and Flint!
Okay, no more threadjacking (on my part) - it's just a knee-jerk reaction a lot of us who live here are having these days.
Come to the Phoenix Comic-Con if you were considering it. We're going to have a good time! I'll be posting more on it once we're into May proper!

They do, but it took the threat of not hosting a Super Bowl and Chuck D. to get it done.

I thought I heard that you will be at SpringCon in Minneapolis, does that mean you will have a booth of sorts?
