Let’s get this ball rollin’!
Air #18 – M.K. Perker’s art is so amazing to look at. He makes Blythe look cute as a button, yet insanely hot at the same time! Cool to see in this issue that Blythe isn’t the only Hyperax pilot, and the first test they’re assigned is intriguing. Things are definitely going to get insane next issue!
Atomic Robo: Revenge of the Vampire Dimension #1 – So happy to see Atomic Robo back in action! Cool opening issue to this latest miniseries, and if you’re a fan of fun comics in the same vein as Hellboy and BPRD, do yourself a favor and check-out this series!
Batman: Streets of Gotham #9 – Nice little twist at the end, where the prime suspect actually didn’t do it, and the most obvious choice was behind it the entire time. The guest writer was great, and I wouldn’t mind seeing him return in future issues.
Batman #696 – In this issue you could definitely tell that Dick Grayson is no Bruce Wayne. He fell into that trap easily, and is lucky that he came out alive. The art continues to be beautiful, I just wish the story could be a tad bit stronger.
Black Widow: Deadly Origin #4 – This miniseries had its moments, but nothing write home to Russia about.
Blackest Night: The Flash #3 – Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins once again kick-ass with another event miniseries! The story, the art, all marvelous and will be enjoyed by Flash fans and non-Flash fans alike. After reading this issue, I’m so pumped for the Johns / Manapul run right around the corner!
Captain America #603 – This issue was intense! With both Bucky and Falcon captured, things aren’t looking so good for the two of them. Hopefully next issue they’ll kick some Tea-Baggin’ ass!
Chase Variant: One Shot Is All I Need – I didn’t really get this one-shot. I’m not familiar with the character or story, and wasn’t sure if it was a continuation of an older character. I still love Rich Johnston on BleedingCool, but wasn’t thrilled with this issue.
Daredevil #505 – I had loads of fun with this issue. Matt going to Japan to unite the Hand, the one lone hold-out, and of course the classic frame at the end. Killer art, intense story, Daredevil continues to be an awesome series through and through!
Dark Avengers #14 – Why is there a Siege banner on the cover? With the blood-spattered Sentry logo, one would expect the aftermath of the events that took place in Siege #2, but all we get is another “The Sentry is crazy!” story. Bob Reynolds, please die in a fire already!
Deadpool #19 – Spider-Man plus Deadpool always seems to equal an entertaining story! The chemistry is great, and laughs are always had. This issue in particular had some great fourth-wall breaking. And to think, the next issue is out next week!
Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #8 – This issue was a vast improvement from the last issue.
Devil #1 – While the story was interesting, I was really letdown by the art.
Die Hard: Year One #6 – Again, this series continues to surprise me! I thought the first arc was pretty entertaining, and this new arc looks to be equally great! And this is coming from the guy who doesn’t care about the movie franchise all that much!
Doomwar #1 – I enjoyed this issue. You have T’Challa and company starring in an mini-event of their own, and the plot isn’t insane or ridiculous to try and trick readers into buying. It definitely has promise, and myself being a fan of Black Panther will continue to pick-up the rest of the event.
Green Lantern #51 – Fantastic continuation from issue 50 that was out only mere weeks ago! You have action, big battles, and even a Red Lantern Spectre at one point! Just insane, I know! The next issue of Blackest Night is going to kill me with happiness and joy, I fear.
Green Lantern Corps #45 – So while it was awesome to see Guy as a Red Lantern for this past arc, all good things must come to an end. The one scene where his red constructs are battling his green constructs just blew me away! Now with Guy back to normal, next stop, Earth!
Hellblazer #264 – The final arc to the India storyline, and it goes out on a high note. Constantine battles a cowardly old demon, defeats him, and gets the girl at the end…oh wait, he doesn’t. With Phoebe’s last words telling him to move-on, you feel sorry for John since he went through so much to rescue her spirit. Consolation prize? Epiphany, and she’s not too shabby! Great story, great art, I can’t wait to see what Milligan has planned for us next!
Hulk #20 – I heard of “The Jeph Loeb Paradox” the other day, where people loathe his stories, and yet every one of his books are a #1 seller on the charts. What. The. Fuck.
Incorruptible #3 – Finally get one of those great Mark Waid gruesome moments that I love from Irredeemable. Nice to see a little more backstory on Max Damage, and I love the continuity of this word Waid has created. Killer, killer stuff.
Incredible Hercules #141 – Herc died? Damn, I can’t find myself caring in the slightest. I always liked Amadeus Cho more.
Incredible Hulk #607 – Good story, good art, Jeph Loeb could learn something from this series.
Joe The Barbarian #2 – Okay, so it’s revealed that this kid is trippin’ balls without his Inso-pen, and the creative images and visions are getting more and more intense. I love, LOVE Sean Murphy’s art on this, and will definitely be picking up the next issue because of it.
Justice League of America #42 – I’m tired of all the big team DC books featuring Z-List villains. Never heard of ya, don’t care, I have a feeling it’ll be awhile until JLA is a flagship title again.
Locke & Key: Crown Of Shadows #3 – Pick Of The Week, hands-down! Lots of great developing plot in this issue, with a killer art as usual from Rodriguez. New keys are introduced, and my favorite line is uttered; “Hello darkness…my old friend”. Insanely awesome stuff, and Locke & Key continues to dominate.
Outsiders #27 – Bring back Tomasi!!!
Power Girl #9 – I love the humor Palmiotti & Gray put into this series, with the beautifully depicted Power Girl by Amanda Conner’s pencils. A match made in heaven.
Psylocke #4 – I was sorta let down with this finale, what with the beginning of the series being so great. Wolverine deserved it more than she did.
Punisher #14 – I liked the origin story of the main villain, and the art in parts was just gorgeous. This arc is slowly starting to win me back, but that could all change with just one bad issue.
Sparta USA #1 – Interesting first issue, and surprisingly not adapted or based on a video game (WildStorm joke).
Supergirl #50 – Milestone issue, but the story didn’t impress me much.
Amazing Spider-Man #621 – I don’t like this bitchy Aunt May. They need to find a cure for her quick. As for the stuff with Black Cat and Mr. Negative; fun stuff, great art.
What did YOU pick-up this week??
