I've always been a dog kinda guy, so I know how they become part of the family.
To tell you the truth, I prefer the company of a dog over most people.
Now it makes me happy I was able to work the dogs into a Freking Sweer strip.
BTW: That "Greta Baby" thing was in Vince's Candyman riff done for Bryan's birthday.
I'll continue to listen for Julian . . . BLAM!

Having just had to have Ben put to sleep in similar circumstances I know how hard it is to lose a friend.

Sorry to hear 'bout the dog. I've had to put down 2 dogs and about 6 cats and it never gets any easier.
Good hearing Julian.

Ninja Magic - priceless. I love listening to Julian riff about comics.
Talking about the arcade. That really took me back. Growing up, we would always head to the arcade in the local bowling alley every weekend. Play video games during the day, go to the movies on Friday and/or Saturday night, then hit the arcade again after the show. I was always more into the "space" games:
Zaxxon was a favorite
So was Galaga.
It was a toss up between me and a buddy of mine who was the best. He had the high score, but I'd made it through more levels. So it all depended on your perspective.
But the best video game experience for me was an afternoon of Gauntlet with my friends.

Growing up on the US-Canada border, we were well aware of the difference between Canadian and American money - our US currency was valued quite a bit higher than Canada's at the time, and all currency (except pennies) was subject to the exchange rate. And you couldn't even use Canadian quarters in vending machines, because they could adjust the weighting to not allow Canadian coins.
BUT, the owners of the arcade didn't want to cut themselves off from the Canadian kids, so they didn't adjust their machines, which meant you could use Canadian coins at par in the video games. So, my buddies and I planned on a huge Gauntlet experience and exchanged $10 each at the bank for Canadian quarters, which came to something between 13-14 bucks of quarters. And that Saturday we all headed down to the arcade to play Gauntlet. We were there for a few hours, working with each other in order to get as far as we could. We made it through dozens of levels, but never did find out if there was an end to it all or not. It just continued to get harder and harder as we rose through the levels. Great times, and great memories. Thanks guys.
And, as a short aside. I picked up the recent "Stark Disassembled" Iron Man issues as well. Being a fan of Matt Fraction and wanting to get into Siege, I thought it would be good. And, I have to say, IMO, that it did nothing for me. I won't be getting any more of the issues and I know I won't miss it. I can't really pinpoint it, except that it felt like it was just dragging on and on, and the art from Larocca was unimpressive. I love Fraction on his indy stuff, but this one, I gotta give a pass.
That said, I do need to thank Jamie D. for mentioning in a recent episode that he was enjoying JMS on The Brave and the Bold. I picked up a couple of the issues on his recommendation, and they are phenomenal. Done in one stories that are heartfelt stories and give a new perspective on old characters, and are really fun comics. This is what great superhero comics are for me. And the art is top-notch from Jesus Saiz. I just read the Green Lantern/Dr. Fate one tonight, and it almost had me in tears. It was such an amazing story about two friends (Hal and Kent Nelson) and it gave us a new, but obvious, look at the connection between these two characters (similar to what Kurt Busiek did with JLA/Avengers) that elevated it beyond normal comics, and even beyond really, really good superhero comics. This book is the standard bearer right now - for me - of superhero comics. Love this book! Thank you Jamie D.

Julian is like a one-man focus group.
I dig his cadence (the way he speaks) when he comes on. Seriously, he must be a regular.
edit:
also, when a cat uses the phrase "tango and cash" in his strip... more genius than e=mc2.. I laughed out that, man...
