Great interview guys. I really enjoyed it. It's good to see you guys spotlighting the AdHouse. Chris Pitzer publishes some great stuff. And, like you said, any book from AdHouse is going to be beautifully designed.

Faust?

And for those who may not know... some links:

And while I would LOVE to take the credit for the design of Afrodisiac, that's all Jim. He's an ubertalent.

I can't wait to read this book. I pre-ordered it awhile back and after hearing this episode it really makes me want to dig into it.

And thanks for mentioning me and my comics on the show guys. I can't say thanks enough. smile.gif

I pre-ordered the hardcover, too, and am psyched to hear him talk about getting into blaxploitation films as a result of being a hip hop fan. He's my dude! We are of like mind. I knew this book was solid gold once he rattled off Coffee and Shaft; two classics.

I'm wondering if he was a fan of the more modern satirical films that pay homage to the blaxploitation movement...I'm thinking of Robert Townsend's Hollywood Shuffle (Batty Batty Batty!) and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. They are two of my favorite films of all time.

Thanks guys for a fabulous episode.

Also, you should try Dolemite, Dolemite 2 : The Human Tornado and my all time favorite Rudy Ray Moore film, The Avenging Disco Godfather (AKA The Godfather of the Disco). Rudy Ray Moore was a very blue comic who made action adventure Blaxpoitation films. They are a few rungs down from a production standpoint but they deliver pure courageousness.
Another winner is Black Belt Jones.

The funniest scene in that movie is the "Midnight Dojo Fight."

Read Afrodisiac today and GOOD LORD IS THAT GOOD COMICS. It's 100% up my alley. The attention to detail is BAFFLING, from the weathered Marvel blue line pages to the period promo pieces to the fake intros that vary with each story. It's MAGIC. I wonder how long it'll take my wife to get pissed off as I refer to her forevermore as 72. smile.gif
