Marvel unveiled Iron Man's new armor tonight, check it out:

From Marvel.com:

QUOTE
Marvel is proud to unveil a new look for Iron Man, signaling a new era for Tony Stark and the Marvel Universe! From the minds of Eisner Award-winning series writer Matt Fraction and Ryan Meinerding, designer on the "Iron Man" and "Thor" films, comes the most bleeding edge, out of this world armor you've ever seen! Following the sold-out "Stark Disassembled" storyline, the Marvel Universe still needs its armored champion and a new mission requires a new kind of armor! But when you see just what Iron Man has planned for the Marvel Universe, your jaw will be on the floor! There's never been a super hero like the new Iron Man!

"The inspiration for the new design came from thinking about a sleeker, leaner, tougher Iron Man," revealed Fraction. "If technology is increasingly getting smaller and lighter it seems like the Iron Man should do the same: ergonomic and aerodynamic. We were looking for something that felt as sleek and glossy as a sports car Tony Stark would covet. I love what we've come up with. It feels like the next evolutionary step in the Iron Man's design."

A bold new direction for Iron Man starts here with the perfect jumping on point for readers old and new alike, as the all-new Iron Man makes his debut in INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #25, on-sale this April!

Looks okay to me but a bit on the busy/complicated style. I wish whoever's drawing that on a monthly basis good luck. Personally I preferred the Extremis armor and this doesn't look TOO far from that but I'm not sure if I really like it just yet.

I like it and agree with Fraction's comment calling it "a sleeker, leaner, tougher Iron Man. If technology is increasingly getting smaller and lighter it seems like the Iron Man should do the same"

Looking forward to it!

Looks okay to me...just wondering if they're going to respect that this is a step down from the Extremis armor. I hope we get at least a passing remark about him missing being directly "wired in" to his armor.

I didn't really like Iron man until he started using the Extremist armor and was wired into Stark Tech. So this being a step down kinda kills it for me. Looks a bit goofy with the lights all over it. But agree with Fraction, nice and slick.

I like it.

What I find odd about it though is that some of us are seeing it as red and gold while others of us are seeing it as red and silver (or maybe white gold).

I'm seeing the red and silver.

I forgot to vote...but I see I'm not the only one.

It looks silver but it's gold. I think the dust is clouding the color.

I think it grows on you the more you see it. I'll be looking forward to seeing the various renditions of this new armor and how many artists will probably butcher the crap out of the design (which is a little busy in the first place though to be honest).

Yeah him losing Extremis is a big downgrade, but maybe they'll compensate for those abilities with the armor or they'll water down the Extremis so that it's not as potent or able to be exploited. I guess the only bad thing about the Extremis was that it made Tony too powerful in that all of his villains all of the sudden became obsolete save for Living Laser and Mandarin who evolved with the times.

I agree about the lights, it's a bit much. Hopefully they can tone it down some in that area.

That photo is just all kinds of dark!

Here's a brighter version and run through a filter to accentuate the yellow.

I have thought about this for a little while before I comment on it. It is Okay, but it almost a rip off of the Ultimate Iron Man with those light things. That is my only issue with the hole thing. It makes it look too busy.

Yeah it's quite busy, it's gonna be a real bitch to draw and color that's for sure!

I was hoping that they would tone that stuff down but alas, it was not meant to be.

Wow. I really like it. It's very sleek looking and it looks quite awesome. I also like the circular chest plate.

Which is funny since the movie seems to be going to the triangle chest plate!

I'd love to see more renditions of it. It'll be fascinating to see all the different interpretations given how complicated it looks.

I like the design, some of the lights seem too arbitrary, It looks cool in some places, but I dont see its purpose in others. Over all though I really like the lines and general contour of the armor itself.

Same here, although I'd sure as heck love to see your interpretation of the new armor Robert!

way too busy.

you should be able to draw something iconic from memory. no one will remember how the orange and red is plotted out on this armor unless they've studied it to draw it already. good iconic costumes can be drawn from memory. batman, superman, wolverine, spider-man, captain america...

I can agree to that.

I would have no idea how to draw that from memory alone.

You mean people STILL make easy to remember designs these days? I think the 70's armor is permanently fused in my brain from when I was 10. This version I like as it DOES make me remember that version. I could get used to the pattern.
