Lets get this ball rollin'!

Action Comics #884 - So Lois Lane and her father General Lane have a nice little reunion with talks of her commiting treason. D'awww! What a touching moment. In the co-feature, I'm really happy to see Captain Atom back in the DCU, but now he has to pay for his past sins! I really liked the art with his story.

Adventure Comics #5 - Not a lot of people like Superboy-Prime, but I for one love his constant complaining and tempertantrums. Having to face all these undead zombies, who does he blame? The staff at DC headquarters in New York of course! I chuckled at Johns' multiple pokes and jabs at the typical rage-filled comic book fans, because a lot of it is just so spot-on. Also, the Superboy co-feature with Manapul's art was just gorgeous. This issue is well worth the pricetag.

Amazing Spider-Man #614 - While this arc was nothing spectacular, it was wild to see the destruction of the Daily Bugle. Justice is served, the bad guy is captured, and more importantly, the Sinister Six's rank grow once more. Next issue features the Sandman, so I'm pretty excited!

B.P.R.D.: War On Frogs #4 - This issue dealt with the very interesting topic of where do the souls of the frogs go when they die? Well they didn't have to deal with that topic before, mainly because the frogs had no souls. But now since they're infecting humans, and the in-between ones still have souls, it starts to become a touchy subject for Johann. I enjoyed this issue because of it.

Batgirl #5 - Okay, this series has been steadily growing on me, and I think this issue finally got me hooked. The interactions between Batgirl and Damien are hilarious! These two could star in their own series together and I would totally pick it up. So I demand more of them both pronto!

Black Widow: Deadly Origin #2 - While it's interesting to see some of the backstory on Natasha and what she was up to in the early days, this miniseries so far hasn't screamed 'must read' to me. The art constantly changes throughout, and the styles were so different, that I think that's what really curled my milk. Plus it wasn't the best Adi Granov cover in my opinion.

Booster Gold #27 - This issue was just so much fun throughout! Booster versus Ted Kord, with the new Blue Beetle really stepping-up and showing why he's doing the mantle justice. It's issues like this one that remind me why Booster Gold is the best superhero that history will never know.

Dark X-Men #2 - The concept was an interesting one; hundreds of HAMMER psychics forming one big brain to track down X-Man. Can't say I was all that thrilled with this issue.

Daytripper #1 - Could very well be my Pick of the Week. Gabriel Ba & Fabio Moon have exciting things planned with this series, and so far the first issue was absolutely gorgeous! Dave Stewart on colors, Moon on the art, it's eye-candy pure and simple. With the cool twist ending, I can't wait to see what happens next.

DC Universe Holiday Special - The only story I'll highlight (because in my opinion, it was the only one worth spotlighting) was Scott Kolins' Deadman story. His art looked very pretty.

Deadpool #18 - Call him crazy, insane, mental, whatever you want; but always know that he has a plan. It was fun to see him with the X-Men for awhile, but all good things must come to an end. This is the only Deadpool series that you should be picking-up at the moment in my opinion. The other series are okay, but I definitely laugh the most with Daniel Way's run.

DMZ #48 - Ah, revenge is a dish best served cold, and that's exactly what Matty has planned this issue with the UN Troops that give him a good beat-down. Tensions are higher than ever now, and next issue will reveal what will happen with the nuke.

Doom Patrol #5 - Got your lantern ring from buying issue 4? Good, now skip this issue and the rest of the run.

Ghost Riders: Heaven's On Fire #5 - This action-packed issue was my favorite of the miniseries, for it really showed everyone and everything coming together for one big massive brawl; nuns with guns, religious wackos, and Ghost Riders aplenty. Next issue is going to be even more insane; Ketch & Blaze versus the newly appointed God. Shit is going to be going down!

Green Arrow / Black Canary #27 - While the art has improved, the story still hasn't. Some of the little details just rub me the wrong way; Ollie not only keeps a mini tracking device in every arrow shaft, but a tiny camera also?! C'mon, really? The tracking device I can believe, but not the camera.

Incredible Hulk #605 - Bruce, we get it; you're training your son to be the ultimate warrior / heir to the title of 'Hulk', but do you really need to play around with these elaborate lessons involving entire cities and monsters from another world? Just let the kid make his own choices, teach him about the birds & the bees, and send him on his way with his huge sword. I gotta say though, I love Olivetti's art in this.

Invincible Iron Man #21 - Goddamn was this a great issue. Moving on from the huge spoilers that Steve Rogers is back, it was really emotional with the parts with Pepper struggling to make her own choices about Tony's situation. Nice to see some of Tonys best buds doing their best to help reboot him, using parts from Pepper's suit, Cap's sheild, and Thor's lightning. And how about that cover? Gorgeous. This issue was a definite homerun.

Nation X - Okay, so I thought this was going to be an event / miniseries of sorts, but it's just another excuse for Marvel to give you a bunch of short stories revolving around the mutants and Utopia. Nothing exciting happens, and the first story in particular felt really lame with the gang of Young Mutants running around like the gang from Scooby Doo in the underground caves looking for ghosts. Laaame. The only one I liked was Allred's art on Nightcrawler and Logan.

Punisher MAX #2 - Very grusome issue as Fisk starts his rise to the fictional top (except to him, it's the real deal). Great to see how brutal and unforgiving Fisk is, all while getting his history at the same time. I gotta say, Frank has one hell of a fight on his hands in the future issues!

R.E.B.E.L.S. #11 - What happens when an unstoppable force (Black Lanterns) meet an unmovable object (Starro the Conqueror)? You get one gigantic clusterfuck, that's for sure! It was really entertaining to see the self-proclaim conqueror of the universe go up against the Black Lanterns, who are drawn to him like moths to the flame with all the rage he's producing.

Red Robin #7 - Slowly starting to drop the series. And taking Raz out that easily? Please.

Secret Six #16 - A whole lot of fun in this issue, and I gotta say I really like Black Alice as the newest addition to the team. Art looks great, Simone writes another enjoyable story, what other reason do you need to pick-up one of the best series at DC??

Titans #20 - Donna Troy story, and I don't care in the slightest.

Wolverine: Under The Boardwalk - I really liked the grittiness of the art with this one-shot. It reminded me a little of a blend between Sean Philips and Tommy Lee Edwards.

More to come when I find some more time. What did YOU like / dislike this week so far???

The Anchor #3 - The art continues to look gorgeous, and the mythological action keeps coming at you! Tsk tsk at the government trying to get a rise out of him to see how powerful he actually is. I still dig the eating-the-hearts-of-your-enemies bit; it's pretty hardcore.

New Avengers Annual #3 - Oh, well since he apologized, everything is automatically okay. Hey, the headquarters is destroyed, and everyone's identity was in jeopardy at one point, but we'll let Clint play cowboy without suffering any consequences. And to make matters worse, we get another spoiler from the Captain America: Reborn series since that last issue is late.

The Walking Dead #68 - Like Rick said, usually when things are too good to be true, they probably are. In this case, I have a feeling nice things might finally happen for the group. However knowing Kirkman, at what cost? Somebody important is going to die in the next three issues; I just know it!

Ultimate Spider-man #5 - Yeah, I'm a week late to the party, but my shop had an issue with their order. Anyway, it was awesome, as always. I really dug the cover, too. This continues to be my favorite series, along with ASM.

Amazing Spider-man #614 - Definitely the best issue of the arc. I liked how Waid was able to legitimately reveal Electro as the villain that he is. The destruction of the Bugle was done really well, and that black page with the single panel on JJJ really hit me hard. I've never felt sympathy for the guy until now. With the Gauntlet going on I'm worried about Peter's personal life being tossed to the side. Hopefully Marvel isn't planning on rebooting "Friendly Neighborhood" or any other spin-off series. Thrice a month plus Web is plenty.

New Avenger Annual #3 - I agree that everyone forgiving Clint so quickly was hard to believe, but I guess the timeline on this issue is right before the Siege begins, so it makes sense that no one really gives a damn about anything except finally attacking Osborn. Steve's appearance was definitely all kinds of gimmicky.

Red Robin #7 - I really, really want to like this series, but so far it's been nothing but average. In fact, the most compelling book with Tim Drake so far hasn't even been Red Robin, but instead Adventure Comics #3. This series still hasn't really explored Tim's feelings and why he's in the Red Robin costume. Hopefully with Bruce's return finally announce this series will get some better direction. It'd be nice to actually have the Red Robin series have an important impact on Bruce's return, rather than just using it as a gimmick for the series. The only thing keeping me on this series is the love for Tim that Adventure Comics instilled in me.

Punisher Max #2 - Another great issue for the new volume. While it's still too early to tell, I'm hopeful that this entire run will be great. Can't wait for more.

Invincible Iron Man #21 - I picked up the modern-looking cover. I know, I know. I just couldn't help myself. Anywho, the story was good and it was cool to see everyone join together for Tony. This is the only book that has used Steve's return in a tasteful manner and I actually enjoyed seeing him. I still want to know who's going to be "yielding the shield" from now on, but I guess we'll find out soon. I just hope we still see a lot of Bucky from now on. He really grew on me. I think this series is going to sneak on to my regular pull.

The Unwritten #8 - It was great to see Chadron's side of the story and I can't wait to see how his kids get involved in helping Tom escape from prison. For an interlude, this was highly entertaining. This continues to be a great series.

Adventure Comics #5 - Since I've only recently gotten into DC, I didn't fully appreciate this issue, but I got the general gist of it and still had a good time. I still liked the Conner feature at the end more, though.

That's all for now. I've still got Web of Spider-man (yeah, I don't know, I'm just an OCD Spidey fan), Punisher Noir, and Deadpool.

(Psst, it's Daytripper, not Daywalker).

I read this comic first & I agree 100% as if its the Zombie disease aka the bite & its going to happen TO SOMEBODY!!! I got my books from DCBS yesterday so I am a bit behind but watched one of your videos (the after gobble gobble one). Blackest Night #5 was a kickass read & the return of a special friend for a second was very shocking and the aftermath paid off, the only thing was I didnt read GL first (is it too late to GL gems w/ numbers for proper reading order oh well). Superman Secret Origin was a mixture of Superman the movie, ABC Lois & Clark & nod to John Byrne all rolled in it one (best read so far), Flash Re-(really late) birth as awesome as it is this should have been an OGN by Johns & EVS but I liked the evil leaper aspect from Quantum Leap by Prof. Zoom in screwing things up in Barry's life & what COULD happen by next issue in late January 2010. UGH!!!

Well I have 5 trades & a DC showcase to read along w/ a months worth of books so I have outrun the Flash & go over the weekend.

Man... I should really start reading The Walking Dead, huh? I'm going to make a DCBS order today. Maybe I'll add on a couple of trades.

The first tpb of Kirkman & Tony Moore is 100% spot on. Later tpbs of Charlie Adlard artwork improves slowly over his tenure on the title.

3 tips to enjoying Walking Dead

Buy at least the first 2 tpbs (to see the difference in artwork between the two artists) you really have to pay attention to character's faces in the beginning w/ Adlard but it does improve I promise.

Read it at night & enjoy the action but it a fast read of a series.

If you are hooked on the series there is no shame in picking it up monthly because like the zombies you want more.

I just ordered the Walking Dead Compendium Vol 1 TP, which includes issues 1-48. I figured for $38, it was the best deal in the long run and should get me caught up fairly quickly. If I hate it I can always sell it on Amazon, but I think I'll enjoy it.

Punisher Noir #4 - It was fun, but I think it was the weakest issue of the miniseries.

Web of Spider-man #3 - Alright, it's being yanked off my pull when I visit the shop this week. The majority of the comic consisted of the third part to the Spectacular Spider-girl story which has been pretty bad. The Rhino story was really short and not all that entertaining. Marvel's just trying to make another buck with this series and it's not adding anything at all to the ASM.

Deadpool #18 - This arc wasn't as funny as Way's other stories have been, but I realize it's tough to keep being creative with a Deadpool series, so I'm not too upset. I'm looking forward to whatever's next for Deadpool. With how over-exposed he's been this year, I wouldn't be surprised if he pops up in the Siege, even though I kind of hope he doesn't.

That is most bang for your zombie buck & by the end of the Walking Dead Compendium you will be impressed. I bought the 12 issue slightly oversized HCs w/ the covers in the back & love that format the best personally, then bought the 9th tpb to play catch up & now read monthly issues. Enjoy your adventure into the Walking Dead with many hours reading about Rick & Co.

Take care P. Duffman.

I dropped after the first issue for the reasons you just stated.
