This is my first "bede" episode. I'm part way through but really enjoying it. I like that it's a recommendation spin-off (thus Exploring Bede, I assume). I'm always looking for new books to check out, particularly ones outside of the American mainstream. This is great for me.
I recognized Carlos Trillo's name from some of his work with Eduardo Risso. I've read some of Chicanos by these two, which is a comedy of errors about a short, ugly, female private eye which has some funny moments and beautiful b/w Risso art. More than Chicanos, I've thoroughly enjoyed their Borderline, translated and published by Dynamite. A dystopian future epic with some crazy characters and situations. If you like Mad Max or Oni's Wasteland, this is a book for you.
Also wanted to verify that, yes, one of the Turltes guy's - Kevin Eastman (Maine represent!) - does own and publish that book now.

HA!
I sent you a Voice Mail asking you to talk about Blacksad. I decided to order it on my own but now I am even more excieted.
I really, really want Lobster Nelson but I did not catch if it is translated or all in French.

Chris is correct. Carlos Trillo have done a lot of comics with Eduardo Risso, another Argentinean artist. Another work from them, easy to find, that I recommend is "Tales of Terror", (winner of 2008 Harvey Award for Best American Edition of Foreign Material and published by Dynamite entertainment).
For me it's been a pleasure to work with him. He is a great writer and a good friend of mine. We have two books published in France and we are working in a new one.
I'm Lucas Varela, the artist of "L'héritage du colonel".

Welcome to the forums! We're very happy to have you here. Congrats on being one of the pics of Angouleme in 2009.

And I want to be perfectly clear that L'Héritage du Colonel was super well done, and I hope my jaw-dropped good-GOD-WTF reaction didn't in any way indicate that it wasn't an exquisite read. Just... disturbing.

Oh yeah! And I picked up Je Suis Légende from the library yesterday. I have read about 10 pages of the first volume and it looks AWESOME.
