Let's get this severed gory head rollin'!
Blackest Night #4 - While the main event continues to get more and more exciting, I find myself really enjoying Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps more. A lot of cool stuff happened in this issue, everything from Ray, Mera, and Barry being some of the only hopes left for humanity, to the total charge of the Black Lantern battery. Johns continues to keep me hooked, and begging for more. This issue is no exception.
Green Lantern #47 - Tons of cool things happening in this title! I'm totally digging Hal taking over the coalition of lanterns, and I love the fact that Atrocitus is filled with so much rage, that nothing can kill him. Not only that, but he now wants the Orange power battery from Larfleeze. So much fun in this issue, that it makes me glad I'm a Green Lantern fan.
Detective Comics #858 - Pick of the Week, hands down. When I first opened this issue up, I was a little taken aback; this wasn't the same art from J.H. Williams III that I came to love with a passion; this was some of his simpler stuff! However, this was a flashback issue, so the art did end up working perfectly throughout. The art aside, this series continues to punch you in the gut in those last few pages, and makes you crave the next issue like nothing else. This is how every comic book should be, but isn't. This is the future of comics, and I'm proud to say I've been on board ever since the first issue of the first arc.
Superman: Secret Origin #2 - It's weird; sometimes the Legion of Super Heroes can make me disinterested in a comic, but whenever Johns is writing them, I'm just totally fascinated and transfixed with the story. They make an appearance in this issue (just like in the Superman mythos), and everything goes forward smoothly. This series is a wonderful starting out point for those getting interested in Superman. I trust no other writer but Geoff Johns with his origin.
Fantastic Four #572 - This arc is over with already?! Geez that was quick! Time flies when you're having fun I guess. Hickman did such a fantastic job on his first run for this series, that I simply can't wait for the multiple stories he'll be giving us in the near future with this title. If it were up to me, he'd never leave this title. The art is fantastic, the story is extra fantastic, basically Hickman brings the much needed 'fantastic' back to the Fantastic Four.
New Avengers #58 - With the Hood back and pissed, it'll be interesting to see what happens with those villains who decided they were better off without him. Meanwhile, it doesn't look good for Cage in his current situation, but it's not that much better for his teammates. The fight in the sewer was cool, but when are we going to be getting the much anticipated New Avengers vs Dark Avengers fight? At the end of the Dark Reign event??
Batman #692 - While it's great to see Tony Daniels back on the series, this first issue of his run seemed to fall a little short to me. But then again, that's just me. I love his art in this series, so I wasn't left unsatisfied with this issue overall. I'm just hoping some big things happen next issue!
Ultimate Comics: Avengers #3 - Very interesting to see the older brother of Tony Stark and his own little black-ops Avengers team trying to take down Captain America. Now is the Spider-Man we see in this issue actually Ben Reilly? Lots of action in this issue, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Blackest Night: Titans #3 - Of all the Blackest Night miniseries so far, this one was probably my favorite. Especially with the power Dove was packing in this issue! Something tells me she's going to be in high demand in the upcoming Blackest Night issues.
Dark Reign - The List: Punisher #1 - Holy shit! I did not see that ending coming! Very well written, very well drawn, this issue was hands-down a bloody and action-packed massacre! I am hesitant about the upcoming series though, only because I love the Punisher that much, and don't want to see him get fucked-with.
Secret Warriors #9 - This issue goes to show that the Secret Warriors can go up against HAMMER and Osborn's Avengers just fine without Nick Fury being there (his LMD on the other hand...). I'm loving what Hickman is doing on this series, and can't wait to see what Fury has planned a little further down the line.
Superman #693 - Um, the art is pretty?
Worlds Finest #1 - Wow, I really didn't care for this issue! It's a 4-issue mini, so hopefully the second issue will be better at least.
Guardians of the Galaxy #19 - So many exciting twists and turns this issue! This was going to be a pick of mine for the Fast Five, but Nova #30 came in at the last second and bumped it off. However, I highly recommend you pick this issue up regardless, because it's now a whole new ballgame for the team!
Gotham City Sirens #5 - Cool to see who's really behind the Joker outfit, with a jealous rage of Harley. Nice to see some Joker and Batman: The Animated Series easter eggs in this issue, and the art is still gorgeous. Totally awesome series!
Justice Society of America #32 - Whattya know? The new creepy guy was behind the murder. Didn't see that coming. I really want to love this series, but I just can't seem to have a good time no matter how hard I try or how patiently I wait.
NOVA #30 - Such a spectacular issue! I especially enjoyed the transfer of the Worldmind to the ship from Ego, and to have the monsters from the ship transferred to Ego. Brilliant! This series continues to be amazing, and you should be really kicking yourself if you're not picking it up.
X-Force #20 - Holy goddamn what a killer issue! X-23 is more badass than usual in this issue, slaying numerous guards all with just one arm. Explosions, gallons of blood, and the reuniting with her team at the end made this issue totally kick-ass. The art is just fantastic as well!
Punisher #10 - Nice ending to the story arc. Not my favorite Punisher arc, but it was really entertaining at times. I just wish I read this issue before reading the Dark Reign - The List oneshot.
Arkham Reborn #1 - Very intriguing first issue. Although Arkham Asylum is shiny and brand new with all the latest tech, you just know something bad is bound to happen right around the corner. Killer cover, too.
Abe Sapien One Shot - A very creepy and fitting tale for Halloween starring everyone's favorite Dark Horse amphibian.
Incredible Hercules #137 - I was totally digging the stand-off at the end, with each genius doing the math in their head, but overall I thought it was pretty 'meh'. I'm sure next issue will be more action packed.
Dark Reign: Young Avengers #5 - You're meaning to tell me that the Young Avengers took down the Dark Avengers?? Get outta here!
Invincible Presents: Atom Eve & Rex Splode #1 - Holy shit what a awesome issue! I was sad to see Rex die in Invincible #60, but to get a backstory from him that I wasn't expecting? Really cool shit! To imagine he was a total badass before he met Eve is still mind-blowing to me, and I can't wait to go further down the rabbit hole next issue.
Northlanders #21 - While this first issue in the arc didn't grab me but my guts and yanked hard, it did have some spectacular moments. The art is very beautiful, and it's looking to be something very interesting in the upcoming issues.
Ignition City #5 - Guns are ablazin' in this final issue, and I couldn't have been more entertained! Ellis once again gets my applause for such a fantastic series, and I do hope to see more stories in this universe. If you're a fan of Firefly, you'll like this series I reckon.
Wonder Woman #37 - Oh man, were the fights in this issue cool or what?? I had a real fun time, and have writer extraordinaire Gail Simone to thank for it.
Teen Titans #76 - Bleh!
Jack of Fables #39 - Cool twist at the end explaining why the monsters are capturing people. And the bit with Jack slowly turning into a dragon? Fuckin' golden!
Die Hard: Year One #2 - Okay, I'll admit; I did enjoy this issue more than the first one, and yes I'll be picking up #3 for sure.
Madame Xanadu #16 - Finally this series hooks me again! Creepy things are happening to this one woman, and it's up to Madame Xanadu to find out why.
Jennifer Love Hewitt's Music Box #1 - I don't think she needs her name in the title, because if anything it keeps people from buying this comic. And it's a shame, because this first issue was something enjoyably different and intriguing.
Bart Simpson Comics #50 - Cool to see Sergio doing the art and gags. I had a couple of good laughs throughout because of him!
X-Necrosha #1 - So it seems like a very interesting event, but I'm getting little glimmers of Blackest Night meets X-Men. Only time will tell if I'm right or not.
Dark Avengers: Ares #1 - Hmm. Certain aspects like the Ares unit interest me, but it still has me on the fence for now.
Ultimate Comics: Armor Wars #2 - Warren Ellis continues to kick-ass in the new Ultimate Universe with this series! Cameos from MODOK, Dr. Faustus, and more! Action, geekery, and 4chan shout-outs make this issue very enjoyable!
Aaand I'm spent! What did YOU buy / enjoy / not enjoy???

I still have 6 books to read from my pull. A paper for school got in the way this week (I know, the horror).
Meanwhile,
Ultimate Avengers was cool. I'm interested to see who the "Spider-man" is. Punisher List was cool, though I can't say I'm excited about Franken-Castle or that I'll even pick it up.
The art and mood of Batman was cool. I'd like to get back to that flash drive or whatever it was that Dick found in the Robin costume holder.
New Avengers was solid. I think it's building up nicely to the Siege. If Spider-man and Norman don't duke it out, though, I'll be disappointed. Spider-man is long overdue for some payback.
Secret Warriors was fun and I can't wait for the Ares/Phobos showdown. Maybe Ares will join the good guys?
I still need to read Unknown Soldier, Blackest Night, FF, Detective Comics, and Buck Rogers.

Oh yeah, Ultimate Iron Wars continues to be fun. I hope Iron Man gets his own series or joins the Ultimates.

Superman Secret Origin #2 was my Pick of the Week; it had everything I was looking for in a Superman comic. Very close but still runner up was Detective Comics #858 the story was solid & the art was amazing (as usual). Blackest Night 4 & GL 47 keeps the adventure going & like the orange lanterns I WANT MORE!!! I liked the BN Superman & Titans mini over the Batman BN mini. I am just a little behind on everything else after reading Ultimate Spider Man 9th HC ending the Bendis/Bagley era of spidey. I'm going to dig into the next Scalped trade & after that the epic that is Bone all in one edition.

I only read the Batman BN mini, but I agree that it was pretty meh. I liked the Dick/Tim confrontation in the first issue (I think) where Tim argued that he's equal to Dick. It's cool to see both of them growing up. My favorite Tim moment in this whole Batman Reborn thing has been Adventure Comics #3. Almost made me cry. I know a lot of people want Bruce back, but I'm enjoying Dick and Tim right now.

If they (DC & writers/artists) can start a new arc w/ Batman 700 not the return of "old" Batman but of the "new" Batman. I am ok with it. Will it be long lasting? No, once the third Batman film comes out (or close to it) everything gets reset to the normal status quo but hopefully some advancement of characters of the Bat family for the better will come out of this.
