Let's get this ball rollin'!
Green Lantern Corps #41 - Loving the fights with Natu and Kyle versus the endless ex-girlfriends of Kyle (refrigerators and all). This issue packs so much action with the different battles raging on, that it goes to show no lantern in the DC universe is truly safe. Hell, even Kilowog had to face some personal demons from the past. With the Indigo Lantern arriving at the end, this event continues to keep me pumped!
Blackest Night: Batman #3 - I tried my hardest to like this tie-in, but it was just poorly executed in my opinion. It just didn't feel like a fulfilling story.
Adventure Comics #3 - Another great issue! Francis Manpul's art in this is just so fantastic and fits with Johns' story like peanut butter does to jelly. Connor continues to reunite with old friends while keeping tally of his personal list at the same time. Great revelation on why Tim is in the Red Robin costume (aka the failure robin) until Bruce gets back, and another great Legion Of Super-Heroes back-up. Grade A fun, this series is.
Batman #691 - While it was cool to see Two-Face Batman versus Batman, I was kind of letdown to find out the Two-Face Batman costume was only an illusion. Winick really did a good job with this issue, and it'll be fun to see the return of Tony Daniel on art and story next issue.
Red Robin #5 - I had fun with this issue. The past couple of issues had me on the fence, but finally my fun-o-meter went past the GOOD TIME mark. I really like the idea of the League of Assassins being hunted by a rival group just for sport. That right there is terrifying if you're in the shoes of the LoA. With Tim leading the team, it'll be an interesting next few issues.
The Marvels Project #3 - Meh.
Uncanny X-Men #516 - I hate the art. Usually it takes me so out of the story that I can't enjoy it, but Fraction did the impossible and kept me hooked this issue with the brilliant story alone. Great to see Magneto again, and I can't wait and see what Scott's next plan of action will be.
Action Comics #882 - Reactron went psycho against his own people? I didn't see that one coming.
Detective Comics Annual #11 - Kids are rescued, Azrael is shunned by Batman for not putting his priorities in check. Do yourself a favor and save your $10 you would have spent on this and the Batman Annual and spend it on some independent comics instead. Chances are you'll have a lot more fun with the indies.
The Walking Dead #66 - End of the arc, and it ended kind of weak in my opinion. Yes Rick & Co. made sure the cannibals wouldn't harm anyone ever again, but the cost was one of their own original members. Kirkman sounds really excited for this upcoming arc, so that automatically makes me excited.
Batgirl #3 - I think she got to wear the costume too soon, but that's just me. It was a cool fight against the Scarecrow though, I'll give this series that.
Web of Spider-Man #1 - And here I thought all Spider-Man stories were going to be contained in one series. If the rest of this new series is like this first issue, Marvel should put it out of it's misery pronto! Nothing but crap this issue, not a good way to start a new ongoing.
Deadpool #900 - Half the stories I liked, half I didn't. Apparently this is a new Deadpool ongoing, which means I'm going to have to pass. The only Deadpool series I'm really enjoying is the one written by Way. It's sad to see Deadpool becoming the next Wolverine; with his image splattered everywhere.
Secret Six #14 - Pick of the Week, hands down. Gail Simone & Nicola Scott continue to kick so much ass with this series, and the end to this arc in particular was just badass! Amazons overrunning the prison, Grendel versus Scandal & Bane, Wonder Woman kicking ass, it all adds up to a bloody good time! This series is perfect for every comic fan, because whether you're a Marvel or DC fan, there's something for everyone.
Scalped #32 - Slowly but surely, the war for the Rez is almost here. To make things worse, it looks like Red Crow's daughter is preggers with Badhorse's kid. I see major casualties ahead in the upcoming issues, and I'm loving every minute of it!
Hellboy: The Wild Hunt #7 - Hellboy continues to struggle with the tough decision of whether or not to accept his legacy and lead Britain into battle, or to keep resisting. You get some absolutely gorgeous art and colors in this issue, and that right there makes it a home run. Beautiful, beautiful issue.
House of Mystery Halloween Annual #1 - I really enjoyed this issue because of the creepy Halloween vibe it brings with it. You get quite the bang for your buck this issue as multiple stories are told revolving around this one mask Fig discovers in the house. You get a story from Hellblazer, Madame Xanadu, and even a preview of the upcoming I, Zombie series by Mike Allred! Be sure to pick this annual up to help get you into the Halloween spirit!
Fables #89 - Looks like the two saviors of Fabletown from Mister Dark's grasp are Bufkin and Frau Totenkinder! It was very clever of Bufkin to capture the Genii the way he did, and it's the storytelling like this that continues to make Fables one of the best ongoing series of all time.
BPRD 1947 #4 - Undead vampire corpses and pancakes? Sign me up! I'm sad that there's only one more issue left in this miniseries, because Fabio Moon & Gabriel Ba's art has been nothing short of fantastic throughout! A total treat for Hellboy lovers.
Booster Gold #25 - Kind of an interesting issue, with Booster and the new Batman and Robin meeting. I had some problems with how Dick and Damien acted at times, but other than that it was a pretty okay issue. Blue Beetle back-up was equally enjoyable.
Incredible Hercules #136 - Usually I loathe this series, but this issue in particular made me laugh out loud with Hercules vs Thor! Especially the Purple Nurple! Funny stuff, too bad this series couldn't be consistently funny like this.
JSA vs Kobra #5 - The woman made-up of all snakes made me laugh, but it wasn't suppose to be a funny moment. That's how I feel about this miniseries in general; laughable.
The Anchor #1 - As far as first issues go, this one intrigued me pretty good. I was loving the art, for it really reminded me of an Atomic Robo and Hellboy lovechild in comic book form. The story was pretty solid too, with an ancient protector keeping the hordes of hell at bay, while battling the ones who got through the cracks on Earth at the same time. Very fun stuff, and I'm definitely sticking around for the next few issues.
The Astounding Wolf-Man #19 - I really enjoyed this issue because it was completely different from the regular storyline of vampires and family issues. It's Mecha-Wolf-Man versus a giant Earth monster, and good times are had. I've been enjoying the hell out of Howard's art, that it'll be sad to see it go after this series ends (which is soon).
Titans #18 - The one thing I hate more than a Raven and Beast Boy story, is one involving Trigon.
Green Arrow / Black Canary - What happened to this series? It used to be so enjoyable.
DMZ #46 - I'm loving this arc with how the rest of the world reacts to Parco's nuke. Interesting and intense conversation with the Free States, which makes you wonder whose side you're really supporting. Is Matty in fact a tool, or the unsung hero of the DMZ? Tune in next issue to find out!
The Punisher MAX #75 - It felt like a ton of Frank Castle origin stories of how his family died in the park. We know his origin by now people, now lets make enjoyable stories. This issue was not filled with said enjoyable stories. The Jason Aaron / Steve Dillon series can't start soon enough!
Final Crisis Aftermath: Escape #6 - What the hell did I just read??
28 Days Later #3 - Fun issue, with some very intense moments. That one gal's a bitch for trying that little stunt with the fake biting! Off with her head, I say!
The Shield #2 - Oh boy! Two characters I don't care about conveniently teamed-up in one issue!
Iron Man: Iron Protocols #1 - What's the point of an Iron Man story when it takes place years ago and Tony is head of SHIELD still?! Either this issue came out years late, or the creative team were out of ideas completely.
Doctor Who #4 - If you're a fan of Doctor Who, I think you'll enjoy this issue a lot. It has that I-could-see-this-as-an-episode type feeling to it.
Anna Mercury 2 #2 - FINALLY this amazing series returns! Not only does it return, but with a BANG! Anna continues to be the sly and deadly redheaded vixen we all know and love, facing a new threat; SPACE VIKINGS!!! This issue is 100% action packed, and was THIS CLOSE to being the pick this week. Absolutely brilliant stuff, and I bow to Ellis once more.
Gravel #14 - Speaking of great Ellis stories, the end to this second book was equally fantastic. At last, Gravel has taken down the rest of the Major Seven in one swoop, and has a new mission of rebuilding both Major and Minor Sevens. It's a new day in the magical underworld of Britain, all thanks to Gravel. Killer story!
Vampirella: The Second Coming #2 - With all these vampire bimbos running around in those little outfits, I'm feeling myself starting to get aroused. Is this wrong? Should I go consult my doctor?
Quite the enjoyable week! What did YOU get and enjoy??
