Batman and Robin #5 - Who knew a villain named 'The Flamingo' could be so terrifying?? The action continues in this issue with Batman & Robin fighting against the Red Hood & Scarlet, and it really does feel like an even brawl. With this new villain introduced, however, it's now anyone's game.
Amazing Spider-Man #608 - I was really let down by this issue, especially after the past couple of great arcs. Then again, I for one am not a fan of Ben Reilly, let alone the current story around him. The sooner this arc wraps-up, the better. Bring back Joe Kelly ASAP!
Sweet Tooth #2 - So while the first issue didn't win me over completely, this second issue is what really sold me on this new series. Lemire's art sets the tone of this post-apocalyptic world very nicely, and the story keeps getting more and more interesting as we now follow Gus and Jepperd on their quest back to the Sanctuary. I'll definitely be sticking around for issue three.
Superman: World Of New Krypton #8 - With the addition of the Thanagarians to this already massive clusterfuck, I just feel like there's too much going on at times in this series. It's trying to be the most epic Superman story, but feels like nothing more but a big headache.
Daredevil #501 - So while I was sad to see a certain wise ninja mentor get sacrificed by Murdock himself, it makes me question the feel of this new Daredevil. Matt has gone through all seven levels of Hell these past few years, so has he just finally gone over the edge? If so, what's the next line he'll cross? However there is some speculation that Master Izo isn't really dead, and the blow Matt delivered would fake the symptoms of a dead man. Tune in next issue?
Criminal: The Sinners #1 - Alas, Phillips and Brubaker are back on this fantastic series with new stories. While this first issue didn't grip me right away, I'm still doing a happy dance on the inside because I know it's going to kick my ass by the end of the arc, and that excites me so.
Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #3 - Cool to see Mysterio and Spidey's first fight, but I'm sure next fight will have much more fireworks. Not sure how I feel about having Johnny Storm a permanent character in this new series, though.
Haunt #1 - Pick of the Week. Even though the character looks like a cross between Spider-Man, Venom, and Spawn (right up McFarlane's alley), the story Kirkman tells in the issue really sunk it's teeth into me and held on tight. I like the idea of this Haunt character forming whenever these two brothers touch, and think it has a lot of potential for future issues. Sure McFarlane is only doing covers, but that's fine with me; I love Ottley's art on this!
Irredeemable #7 - Shit keeps on getting creepier and more intense every issue! Great to see more backstory on how the Plutonian got to be the way he is, and awesome reveal at the end about a certain someone possibly being more powerful than the Plutonian himself! Way to play possum!
Justice League: Cry For Justice #4 - Okay I gotta admit; Captain Marvel and Supergirl would make a cute couple.
Dark Reign: The List - Secret Warriors #1 - I didn't feel like this was a MUST BUY. Especially with the fact that Norman and Nick had a truce for a short period of time. I still can't see that happening.
Batman Annual #27 - For shame! An Azrael story in my Batman annual. I didn't like this issue at all, and it doesn't help that it concludes in the Detective Annual.
Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural #1 - Yeah, just not my cup of tea.
Astonishing X-Men #31 - Jimenez's art on this book is going to fit with Ellis' story quite nicely. Very dramatic rescue of Agent Brand by the entire X-Men team, and then they all walk into a trap. Sure it's a little behind in continuity, but that didn't take away any enjoyment I had after reading this issue. Top notch stuff!
Deadpool #16 - After reading this issue, I've decided that I do in fact want to see Deadpool on the X-Men. The new costume could use some work, but other than that, I expect tons of laughs around the corner! Pancakes, anyone?
Vengeance of Moon Knight #2 - Such a shame. This new relaunch of the series started out so strong in the first issue, but now it's been reduced to the same boring Moon Knight one issue later.
Strange Tales #2 - While I enjoyed the first issue a little bit more, it was cool to see Max Cannon and Tony Millionaire get some playing time in. Also, Jonathan Hickman's art? Gorgeous.
Planetary #27 - Now that the series has finally concluded, I can now safely start reading it
Doom Patrol #3 - The thing I've noticed about Giffen is that he really likes having faceless villains. Look at his recent runs on Midnighter and Ambush Bug and you'll see what I mean.
The Mighty #9 - This issue really had a lot of OH SHIT! moments. Champagne's art and Tomasi's story is really what makes this miniseries incredible, so what the hell is with these rumors that DC has canceled it with only 3 issues left?! You'd best be joking, DC.
Cable #19 - Okay, Bishop, you really need to stop making sure that Hope is indeed within range and just nuke the place already. It feels like this series is dragging because Bishop is constantly thinking "Well I should be sure she's still nearby" and she is, but he misses his chance as usual and Hope and Cable get away once again. Ugh.
War Heroes #3 - While this book is extremely late (for a six issue miniseries, no less), I gotta admit I was enjoying it. The idea of the super pills getting into the wrong hands is absolutely terrifying, and completely changes the ballgame now. Can't wait for issue four next year!
The Boys #35 - I was waiting for a Mother's Milk origin story for the longest time, and this issue really delivered. Great to see Robertson back on art, and Ennis really did a good job on the issue as well.
X-Men vs Agents of Atlas #1 - This issue was extremely fun, and you definitely got the bang for your buck! Very entertaining little story, and if you're a fan of either team I strongly urge you to hop on board. Definitely something for everyone.
Ghost Riders: Heavens on Fire #3 - Cool futuristic motorcycle they're both fighting in those few pages, but that was the only thing I really found entertaining this issue. The rest was just so-so.
Final Crisis Aftermath: Run #6 - Just when you thought things couldn't get even more ridiculous in this miniseries, it does. Such a letdown, such a waste of trees.
Sir Edward Grey: Witchfinder #4 - The art is simply gorgeous and will melt your face because it's so beautiful. Even if you're not familiar with the cast of characters, pick this wonderful series up for the art alone.
Sherlock Holmes #5 - A strong end to a fantastically written series! More I say!
Batman: The Unseen #1 - I'm really not a fan of multiple chapters in a single issue. The art doesn't float my boat either.
House of Mystery #18 - The story with the cockroaches was cute, but the main story needs to be brought back down to earth a little bit.
Jonah Hex #48 - Goddamn do things get bloody this issue! Hex is the biggest badass in comics, and will rock my face off in the next and final issue in this epic arc.
Crossed #7 - meh.
Savage Dragon #153 - Didn't have the same UMPH it once had that got me interested.
The Torch #2 - I'm not sure I fully understand it, and I usually fear the things I don't understand.
X-Babies #1 - Cute stuff. Love the Skottie Young cover, but don't understand why they had to price it at $4.
Greek Street #4 - I've decided that the best way to read and understand this story would be to wait for the trade. I'm just getting too confused and having a hard time remembering something this complex from month to month.
Spider-Man 1602 #1 - Why, WHY did they make this series?! Why can't we leave the Marvel 1602 series alone? It was such a brilliant series by Gaiman & Kubert, that if it's not written or drawn by them, it's not going to be anywhere near the same fantastic quality. This series is a joke, and the death at the end pissed me off greatly.
Iron Man: Armor Wars #3 - No more Skottie Young covers?! Why am I even caring anymore then?
Absolution #2 - I like the new villain, but I feel this series still hasn't punched me in the gut quite yet.
Magog #2 - Kill this series with fire. Lots of fire.
Red Tornado #2 - As if I didn't hate Red Tornado already, now I have an entire family of them to hate!
Chronicles of Wormwood: The Last Battle #1 - Ahh, brings me back to the first series, and made me want to read it again. It has potential, and that ending was pretty gruesome and fucked-up! I love it.
Incredibles #1 - Definitely for kids.
Black Panther #9 - So there's going to possibly be two Black Panthers in the future? I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Kill Audio #1 - Not sure what to think of it yet. I'll have a better assessment next issue.
Project Superpowers: Meet The Bad Guys #2 - Skip it. You'll probably be seeing the villain later in the main series.
Models Inc. #2 - No Tim Gunn = I don't care about this series anymore.
Star Wars Halloween Special - Zombies and Star Wars just doesn't mix, sorry people.
This week practically killed me. What did YOU enjoy??
