Let's get this ball rollin'!

Detective Comics #857 - Co-Pick of the Week, hands-down. J.H. Williams III's art just takes your breath away, as the man continues to revolutionize comics in his glorious format in this title. Dave Stewart's colors shouldn't be dismissed either, for it helps the art leap off the page and mesmerize reader. Rucka's conclusion in this arc really screws with your head, and has you salivating for more (just like the art does). The Question back-up isn't really doing it for me, but I don't care; as long as the main feature starring Batwoman continues to be amazing, I'll gladly pay the $4 cover price. Worth every penny!

Superman: Secret Origin #1 - You know what Johns does as a writer that's really effective? He makes you care about the characters even if you've been familiar with their origin story for many years already. Even children know that Superman came from another planet, grew up in Smallville, and goes and works as a reporter further down the line. However, Johns is giving the character a great new revamp, and hopefully this story will be the template for writers in the future stories. My one qualm; having the face modeled after Christopher Reeve. Don't get me wrong, I think he'll always be the perfect man to play Supes, but after seeing him in every page, it's downright creepy at times.

Blackest Night: Superman #2 - I think this mini-series is more about painting the characters in many different emotions as possible, because it feels like I'm reading the comic adaptation of Joesph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at times. I will give the series this; Psycho Pirate is completely terrifying!

Wolverine: Giant-Sized Old Man Logan #1 - Alas, the moment we've all been waiting for...for the past few months. Anyways, it was enjoyable to see Logan finally let loose and annihilate every green spawn of Hulk's clan. And the old Hulk? Creepy as fuck. While I enjoyed the last panel of Logan riding off into the sunset, I don't think it needs a continuing series. I know for a fact I'll be collecting this in hardcover when it comes out because it's one of the best Wolverine stories I've read in the past decade. But a continuing series? I can see it getting boring pretty quick. Especially if Millar isn't writing. All in all, it was a very fitting end to such a killer series.

Amazing Spider-Man #606 - The return of Black Cat was pretty 'meh', but Mary Jane has NO RIGHT to be pissed that Pete's
seeing other people. It was YOU who made him forget everything, you bitch! So you have nothing to get upset about. Go back to your reality TV show, you selfish tart!

New Avengers #57 - So the team gets away (as predicted) and Osborn's army and tech has just grown a little more. Makes sense that Cage has to give himself up if he wants to live. But having double-crossed Osborn in the past, he can look forward to being locked-up niiice and tight after surgery. So with this issue and The List: Avengers issue and Captain America: Reborn issue, does that mean Osborn actually has Barton, Captain America and Cage locked-up?? Either way, I found myself enjoying the art in this issue the most.

Fantastic Four #571 - Co-Pick of the Week hands-down. Jonathan Hickman is the savior of this series, especially after the very mundane Millar / Hitch run that concluded a few issues ago. Reed in this issue is just the way Reed should be written; smart, sciencey, and always the problem solver. The fact that in the first few pages you have a team of Reeds versus Galactus and four Silver Surfers is just absolutely mind-blowing! I'm so excited for Hickman & Eaglesham's run on this series, for I'm predicting it'll be one of the best Fantastic Four runs of all time. Highly, highly recommended.

Spider-Woman #1 - All the wait for this? And yet they still have to balls to charge people $4 for this rubbish. If you want a good Spider-Woman run, check-out the mini the Luna Brothers did awhile back. Maleev's art in this just did not rub me the right way.

Uncanny X-Men #515 - Speaking of horrible art, Land's atrocious art returns to Uncanny, and so does my breakfast. I was really excited for future X-Men stories after the Utopia event, but the art is so goddamn distracting that I can't even force myself you pay attention to the dialogue and try to enjoy that.

Dark Reign: The List - X-Men - Well, more like The List - Namor, but since he's technically half mutant, it works in Marvel's eyes. The story was pretty so-so with the typical Osborn sending a beast after Atlanteans and Namor refusing help from the X-Men because of his pride. In the end of the issue, it's pretty obvious that this one-shot never needed to happen, especially after the Utopia event.

Invincible #66 - As much as I enjoy Allen & Nolan in the buddy-buddy Turner & Hooch type roles, there wasn't all that much action in this issue. I know that it's a set-up issue, and the real gore's going to start flying again in the future, but it was just a calm set-up issue and nothing more.

Supergirl #45 - Bitches need to stop fighting each other and fight the common foe instead.

Dark X-Men: The Confession - That was it? That was what all the wait was for?! Talk about majorly disappointing. This issue could have been summed-up in like 2-pages of Uncanny. But alas, Marvel needs our money, right?

Guardians of the Galaxy #18 - The thing I liked most about this issue was it broke the mold. I was going into it expecting another fun space adventure in the post-War of Kings universe, but got a completely wacky time-traveling story instead. I love being kept on my toes like that! Very exciting. The only problem I did have was that the art didn't really compliment the story all that well. It felt a little bit more cartoony that the series usually is. Hopefully it'll just be for this arc, and not ongoing.

Nova #29 - Speaking of fun space stories, Nova continues to deliver in this latest issue. Old Nova ship that's been drifting for many decades is finally re-united with the Corps, Rider has a mystery to solve, and his team is ruffled by a new cool cosmic bounty hunter! Makes me want to tune in next month (as usual) and see what happens next! Great stuff.

Powergirl #5 - Okay, so while I haven't been enjoying the last four issues, this issue in particular really made me laugh. Everything from washing the cat, to forgetting pieces of the costume. I'm in love with Amanda Connor's art, it's just I wish the story could always be this fun and accessible.

Terry Moore's ECHO #15 - Wasn't really a fan of this issue, and I'm not sure why. I'll need to go back and re-read it to see what did it. Perhaps I was just tired the first time reading it, and skipped over a lot of the dialogue.

Immortal Weapons #3 - What a well-written issue! Rick Spears really captures the feeling of the Opium Wars and what it was like living on the streets back then. Add the fact that Dog Soldier isn't just a legend, but a badass fighter who WILL fuck you up, and this book really does deliver. The passing of the mantle was both intense and chilling, all at the same time. This mini-series continues to blow me away.

Incredible Hercules #135 - Captain Japanazi is such a cool name for a villain. That's the thing I enjoyed the most about this issue.

Incredible Hulk #602 - Enjoyed Olivetti's gorgeous art, but not so much the story. My money was on the Juggernaut.

Justice League of America #37 - In my opinion, this was the strongest story-arc the relaunched title has had yet! Len Wein could stay on the title longer, but alas the fans are demanding Robinson as writer.

Batman / Superman #64 - 'meh'.

Hellblazer #259 - Pretty fucked-up dreams, if you ask me! Simon Bisley's art was a good fit if you ask me.

No Hero #7 - Alas, another Avatar / Ellis series comes to an explosive end. Loved this series just like I loved Black Summer, and can't wait for the upcoming Supergod.

Underground #1 - I really liked this first issue. The creative team of Lieber and Parker is a good match, and by the end of this issue I was really wanting more. Reminded me of the time I went cave spelunking in Arizona a few years ago.

Ms Marvel #45 - Three Ms. Marvels?! Where's a vat of jello when you need it??

Wolverine Origins #40 - Way, I love ya buddy, but please just put this series out of its misery.

Final Crisis Aftermath: Dance #5 - I'm liking the upcoming fight between the team against Rising Sun, but I just felt like this issue lost some of the charm and fun from the earlier issues.

Dark Reign: Made Men - Save your money. This issue is a waste of paper.

Web #1 - A little difficult to follow at times, but it sure does have a lot of potential, especially with JMS at the helm. The back-up features need vast improvement however.

Marvel Zombies - The Return #4 - I liked the setting of World War Hulk, but it could have been done so much better.

Buck Rogers #4 - It was my favorite (and least confusing) issue of the series so far.

Conan the Cimmerian #14 - Call me a heretic, but I did not like Joe Kubert's art in this issue.

Project Superpowers 2 #3 - Perhaps Ross should have stopped after the first volume...yeah...
