and after your Promethea discussion, I was curious if you have ever read Morrison's The Invisibles ?

Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison

Yes, the Supreme talk was especially timely for me, as I just picked up the "Story of the Year" trade. The reprint quality is a little off, but that's a pretty minor gripe for an otherwise good book. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't seen one of the issues a few days into my reading.
I think a Promethea BOTM would be a really interesting one. Not only is it a great book, but I can already hear some of the fights that might break out during the discussion

I agree with your Brainiac comments. I have that issue where they updated him myself. Actually, I would suggest you look at the recent Geoff Johns arc. He does a nice job with the villain and even brings back the idea of the bottle cities.
FYI: Neil Gaiman is coming to give a free talk at the Cleveland Public Library in early October!

And glad to hear the kudoes for Elliott S! Maggin, too, one of my very favorite Superman writers (certainly my Bronze Age favorite), and definitely the guy who best defined Lex Luthor. Maggin's Luthor had a genuine sense of purpose, the drive to be the equal and opposite reaction to Superman's every action. I dig that. If you really want to see Maggin get inside Lex's shiny head, track down the first of his two Superman prose novels, The Last Son of Krypton. There are some great Lex-centric passages in that.

I was happy to hear you liked DBZ, I am a big fan from fansubs before
it came over to the USA, so many people seem to dislike it, glad to
heat you appreciate it.
I think the episode was very smooth compared to other time capsule
episode's. Not that there was anything wrong with them. So maybe the
show notes/and experience of the other episodes lead to a more
relaxed flow. Either way keep up the good work.
These where some fun issues to hear about, some more obscure than others
was fun to hear about gorilla as I was out of collecting
at that time.
I would also recomend checking out the recent Johns/Frank depiction
of Braniac it was pretty cool.
Not regarding the charactization but the Robot braniac was always
such a cool visual design, never knew who created it.

Definately track down Hourman. I loved that series and was sad to see it go
