Let's get this ball rollin'!
Blackest Night: Superman #1 - To be honest, I thought this was a very so-so issue. I kind of assumed that the usual suspects were going to come back to life, and sure enough I called it. Kal-L, Lois, Pa Kent, etc. It was cool to see Superman and Superboy go through the different color spectrums in the eyes of Kal-L, but very tame issue overall in my opinion.
Amazing Spider-Man #603 - Very cool to see the whole issue through the eyes of the Chameleon playing Peter. And it's true; Peter does not know one unattractive woman in his life! Fun to see future drama brewing with the real Peter and his roommate Michelle, Harry and his living situation, and the return of Spider-Man. I'm not usually a fan of Fred Van Lente's writing, but this issue hooked me good.
Daredevil #500 - Pick of the week, hands-down. I haven't been this excited for Daredevil since issue #100! Oh wait, that issue came out a few years ago...wow, they really whizzed-by those 400 issues! All kidding aside, this issue was well worth the $5 price-tag, and really sets-up the series for hundreds of different stories for the years to come. Matt has to sacrifice a lot to accept his new position of power, but better that he control it instead of Wilson Fisk. You get cameos and action aplenty in this issue, plus some gorgeous art in the back from David Aja and Grampa. It's sad to see Ed Brubaker leave the title after so many brilliant issues, but all good things must eventually come to an end.
Batman: Streets of Gotham #3 - Paul Dini continues to make me care about this series, and damn him for doing so! Cool to see a panel of Bruce's old friends who will be over-looking any Wayne Foundation money transactions from Hush from now on, and the eventual return of Mr. Zasz in bitchin' new threads.
Batgirl #1 - Not a fan of the idea of Stephanie Brown running around as Batgirl. I loathed her as Spoiler, and hope that Barbara Gordon leaps out of her wheelchair to strangle her.
Invincible #65 - Finally a 'calm' issue. It's very nice to see Atom Eve not dead, but full of life and owner of huge...tracks of land. I had a feeling that Conquest wasn't really dead, and of course Cecil made the mistake of keeping him alive and secretly tucked-away underground for questioning. Despite his good intentions, you know Conquest will eventually break-free.
Superman Annual #14 - I'd rather be trapped in the Phantom Zone than read this again.
Wolverine: Weapon X #4 - A slow break in the action with this issue, so hopefully the next issue will be a little more exciting. Knowing Aaron, I have no doubt it will be.
Power Girl #4 - Funny The Big Bang Theory cameo in the movie theater, but that's it.
Ex Machina #44 - Alas, the series returns from its hiatus! At first I thought I was reading a Blackest Night tie-in with all the different color spectrums, but turns out the makers from another dimension have a more sinister plan with these different colored boxes. Only 6 issues left of this wonderful series, and then Mr. Vaughan can check another mark off his "Reasons I'm a total Badass" list. Same for Tony Harris, too.
Justice League of America #36 - I like the fact that the Royal Flush Gang is finally getting some recognition that they deserve after all these years. I've always been fun of their card-themed outfits, so the fact that the JLA is having a problem with their recent heists makes this a fun title (finally).
Deadpool: Suicide Kings #5 - I enjoyed the first four issues of this mini-series, but for some reason felt pretty 'meh' about the final issue. I don't feel like it was a waste of my time, but it wasn't what I was expecting after the previous issues. And what's up with Wade getting the girl at the end?! He's never suppose to get the girls!
Superman / Batman #63 - This eerie issue was almost a Fast Five pick for me. Very creepy to see a whole world run by Grodd, with no one but Batman to try and bring down his evil empire. We discover at the end of the issue that it's actually a computer simulation to help Batman always have a plan, but still a very good issue nonetheless.
Outsiders #21 - This issue felt a little late, with the Battle For The Cowl series ending a few months ago. But I'm sure when it gets back up to date, Tomasi will dazzle me with his writing (as usual).
Dark Reign: The Hood #4 - 'Meh'.
Hellblazer #258 - Kind of creepy that John wants to keep his ex-girlfriend alive, so he preserves her body with magic. Funny to see everyone else but her come back to life when the cast a magic revive spell. So it's a funny, yet sad issue.
Dark Reign: Mr. Negative #3 - As cheesy as it might be, I do enjoy seeing the negative versions of the people Mr. Li has infected with his black voodoo magic. I know it's not actually black voodoo magic, but it's fun to say outloud.
Punisher: Noir #1 - I enjoyed this first issue, and knew that I would, just from the Tim Bradstreet cover alone. Sure enough, it stays very close to Frank's origin in this different time period, and all the pieces do fall into place. This and the Luke Cage Noir titles might be my favorites along with Spider-Man: Noir and shows a lot of promise with just the first issue alone. Then again, I am a big Punisher fan, so my opinion might be a little biased.
Jack of Fables #37 - I'm not so sure I like this new direction for the series, especially if one of the main characters has given-up the powers he was blessed with. Alas, it might be too early to judge. Willingham hasn't let me down in the past, so I'll go with the flow for now.
Red Circle: The Web #1 - Of all the superheroes introduced so far in this series, The Web is my favorite. JMS has officially caught my attention now.
Tiny Titans #19 - Always the go-to book when I start to get tired of reading all the serious superhero comics. This takes me back to simpler times.
Punisher MAX #73 - It's the Ho-Down from Hell in this issue, and luckily for Frank, his cargo came looking for him. And you're meaning to tell me there's a more brutal inbred-Hick than Earl?! Just looking at that creepy cover for the next issue makes my nipples explode with delight!
Air #12 - M.K. Perker's art in this is just stunningly gorgeous, and really works well with Wilson's wonderfully creative story. I can't praise this series enough, for it keeps getting better and better every issue.
Atomic Robo: Shadow From Beyond Time #4 - Everytime I pick-up an Atomic Robo comic, I know I'm in for a good time. It doesn't matter what the current story is or when it's suppose to take place, the series is just so much fun to read with the Hellboy-esque story, and spectacular art. Fun for all ages, and should be read and enjoyed by all ages.
Doctor Who #2 - I enjoyed the black and white filming sequence, but that was it sadly. Not the best way to start the series, but hey, at least we'll be seeing some familiar faces next issue. I haven't given-up hope on The Doctor yet!
Conan The Cimmerian #13 - There's so much war & gore in this issue, that not only does it end with Conan getting the girl, but thousands are slaughtered beforehand. Excellent series, and a great issue for fans of barbarians and vikings.
Project Superpowers: Meet The Badguys #1 - I've met the first badguy in this issue, and she wasn't anything special.
Gravel #13 - It was good, but wasn't the best issue of the series. Hopefully next issue won't be as chatty.
And I'm spent! What did YOU pick-up and enjoy?
