Despite the fact that certain people who shall remain un-named have yet to add me to this page or the guest list on the Supershow page, I am indeed going to be in attendance.

Hey - no fair editing a post dated last year! I scrolled down to the bottom thinking, y'know, where the latest post should be. How was I supposed to know to look up top? Of course, if I wasn't drunk 90% of the time, I suppose I would notice things like that more often.

Hey, Lance.

I was going to mention this Monday after I finished up the commission preorders (which I still intend to ship out to arrive in time for Super Show). Yeah, I won't be able to attend Super Show. It was a dicey proposition in terms of breaking even when I had someone (Jim Heffron) to split expenses with, but with so few commissions preordered coupled with how slow I am at drawing "on-site" and the fact that I have no new material to sell. I just couldn't risk it—especially with my mortgage due right after the trip.

I should have pushed the commissions even harder, but I'm a pretty awful salesman, and I've been throwing myself into trying to get some kind of freelance work (I've had 3 gigs come through only to evaporate leaving me high and dry). It's been a pretty crummy last 8 months*, and, as I said to Bryan in my email on Thursday, it breaks my heart that I can't make it.

*No sympathy asked for or needed. I'll be fine as I fully believe that something will pan out. It's just frustrating that these things don't happen on MY timetable, but I'm learning patience, I suppose.

I'm bummed out because the last Super Show was one of my all-time favorite convention experiences, and I'll miss seeing so many dear friends, as well as putting faces with names of so many new ones. And I'd really enjoy being on the Creating Independent Comics panel.

I do look forward to hearing how much everyone enjoyed it, though!

Thanks, Jim. I was looking forward to seeing you, too. Truth be told, I didn't actually give up the ghost until I emailed Bry on Thursday morning. Prior to that, I was still trying to figure out a way to make it work.
