Let's get this ball rollin'!

Detective Comics #855 - As far as I'm concerned, old Brucey can stay lost in limbo for a few more years! Spectacular storytelling by Rucka, and beyond beautiful art by the wonderful J.H. Williams III. I've been a fan of Batwoman ever since 52, so it's about damn time she has the spotlight on her (years later, mind you) and all of her lesbian kick-assery. I just cannot get over the glowing character of Alice, and how twisted yet gorgeous she is on every page. DC really should be putting posters out of this interior art, because I would buy fifty copies. YOU HEAR ME, DC?!!

Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps #3 - While I feel robbed of a final third story (Blackest Night #0 with commentary (how exciting! (I was kidding, it was pretty so-so))), the main one focusing on Kilowog's earlier days is what really did it for me. We find a very shy and confused Kilowog (why is the trainer being so mean to us??) learning first-hand the sacrifices of war, and rising to be the lovable Poozer we know and love today. Arisia also makes a little cameo as we learn she comes from a long legacy of lanterns, and the art is very pretty. I just wish we learned a little bit more about the different colored lanterns.

New Avengers #55 - Very deep discussion about what it means to be a hero, and if killing one to save millions crosses a line. As much as I'd like to see Ronin kill Osborn, Spidey has a point about them being heroes, and they're suppose to rise above that sort of thing. Fun issue, but nothing to get a hard-on over.

Justice Society of America #29 - Alas, Willingham & Sturges finally arrive to take our breath away with this title! Or not. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this book, because it certainly had its moments, but this is their first issue, so of course it's going to be a set-up issue. Talk to me a few issues down the line when more is developed and I'm sure I'll be going ga-ga over it.

Superman #690 - Steel versus Atlas! The last time I liked Steel was when he was battling Luthor back in 52. Nowadays? Dude needs a good writer, and a reason to stick around in Metropolis. Sure Superman might not be around, but there are 50+ other heroes better qualified than Irons for the job.

Fantastic Four #569 - Of course, the last issue of Millar's run is the one I enjoyed most. Nice to see Clyde Wyncham (1985) tied into the 616 universe and battling his future, evil self. Very nice double page spread of the battle of minds, and nice to see that Grimm doesn't want to lose the one he loves like so many other heroes before him have. Now, onto the great Jonathan Hickman taking over!

Ultimatum #5 - Stab me in the eyes with forks, and set me on fire. Jeph, baby, stick with the primary Marvel color books with Sale (Daredevil: Yellow, Spider-Man: Blue, Captain America: White, Hulk: Grey).

Dark Reign: Hawkeye #4 - It was fun for the most part, but I still wouldn't pay the amount they're asking for.

Justice League of America #35 - Lord help me, a JLA issue that I actually had fun with. It was so refreshing to see Plastic Man return to the team, I was having a blast reading throughout. Classic JLA versus Royal Flush Gang story, and Plastic Man adds that much needed humor that has been absent from the title for a while now. Fun times ahead!

Thunderbolts #134 - The thing that amuses me about this title is each Black Widow twist at the end tops the previous twist in the previous issue. It keeps one-upping itself, and I find it funny and exciting at the same time.

Dark Reign: Young Avengers #3 - I thought the story was fun, but I really enjoyed the art by Mark Brooks.

Dark Reign: Sinister Spider-Man #2 - Meh.

Wonder Woman #34 - New arc, and it starts off nice and fun! Great dialogue between Dianna and Dina throughout, and the colorful costumes they end up with are wild and crazy. Simone definitely brings the fun to this series.

Dark Reign: The Hood #3 - Parker goes deeper and deeper into the dark world of the occult to try and get rid of his evil demon, but at the end of the issue, does he really want it gone? Think of all the evil they can accomplish together! If you need to pick-up one of these Dark Reign minis, make it this one.

Ignition City #4 - Best line of the week; "SCIENCE WILL FUCK YOU!" Ellis continues to amaze me with this gritty steam-punk sci-fi western starring another foxy redhead. Sad to see only one issue left, but maybe we'll get lucky and get a second series in the future. Pleanty of good stories to explore in this universe.

X-Men: Forever #4 - I don't know what Ron over at iFanboy likes about this book so much, but stories like this make me never want to revisit the 90's again!

Teen Titans #73 - I really like the tension between Traci 13 and Aquagirl over Jaimie. He just needs to kill two birds with one stone and nail them both...AT THE SAME TIME!!!

Northlanders #19 - Nice conclusion to this two-part series. Danish women can keep the Saxon dogs at bay for only so long, before having to get the hell out of dodge. Now with the conclusion of this arc, perhaps volume 3 will be a collection of all the one-shots and two-shots to date.

Marvel Zombies 4 #4 - With another mediocre Zombie volume over, it's only a matter of months before Marvel Zombies 5 comes out.

Dark Reign: Lethal Legion #2 - Loathe the art, love the Tommy Lee Edwards covers.

Citizen Rex #1 - It was...interesting.

Stuff of Legend #1 - Reminds me of Toy Story meets Fables set during WWII. Very creative first issue, and very beautifully drawn.

Pretty steady week for comics. What did YOU enjoy??

I'm really enjoying Batwoman in Detective Comics. The panel layouts, artwork, and coloring are striking, and very unique. The issue had a very dark tone and sinister atmosphere to it(how creepy is Alice here?). As a new Batwoman fan, I don't know too much about the crime bible or anything, but the story is intriguing anyway. Plus, one great cliffhanger. Great issue/story from Rucka and Williams III.
