Smoke em if you've got em!

Green Lantern #42 - Excellent issue. Very clever defense mechanism by the Blue ring, making Larfleeze see a mirage of his liking. Plus with Hal and his fallen Green Lantern constructs versus Larfleeze's? Action packed issue all around! And those Oans are DICKS for making the deal they made with Larfleeze at the end of the issue. Total dick-move.

Detective Comics #854 - Finally, the looong awaited Batwoman series spinning out of the pages of 52 (all those many years ago)! Let me tell you; this issue is well worth the wait. J.H. Williams III just nails the character with his gorgeous art, making you just crave and savor every page. The unique panel layouts also help contribute to the darkness of the story. And howabout that new villain Alice? She looks like a cross between Gwen Stefani and Padme from Star Wars. With Rucka and Williams at the wheel, sign me up! The only complaint I had was the back-up feature with the Question; she just didn't get enough screentime, and the art felt a little off for the character.

New Avengers #54 - It was a nice little conclusion to the new Sourceror Supreme story, but it wasn't spectacular. You had the humor, the usual Bendis dialogue, and Brother Voodoo filling the cloak. It's nice to know that Stephen will still be around to teach the new padwan, because I love me some Dr. Strange. As for The Hood getting a second chance thanks to Loki? I'd rather be powerless than in Loki's debt. It'll be interesting to see what comes next.

Dark Avengers #6 - Very solid issue! Although I'm not going to sign-on to the X-Men / Dark Avengers crossover (because it'll be fucking expensive), but this being the conclusion to the first six issues will make for a good trade. Norman is working 24/7 without any sleep, and it's really starting to get to him. It was going to happen eventually, but he snaps, and the Goblin in him is slowly emerging to the surface. Snapping at Namor doesn't help his case either, for one doesn't snap at royalty such as Namor.

Amazing Spider-Man #598 - Pick of the Week, hands-down. Spidey being tortured by Norman and Bullseye, while at the same time Harry is trying to get Lily free of his fathers clutches. Great soap opera moment as it's revealed that Lily isn't having Harry's baby, but Norman's! Then she's revealed to be batshit crazy and the new Green Goblin. The last page of Harry coming to the rescue is totally a HOLY SHIT moment, making me enjoy this issue and storyline from cover to cover. Joe Kelly is just fantastic, and should never leave this title. One issue left before the gigantic 600 issue, where we pay another $5 for crap we don't need. At least we can appreciate the good stories like this one before #600 comes out.

Gotham City Sirens #1 - First of all, DC, you need to make a poster of this cover pronto, because it is so sexy and badass all at the same time! I'm really liking the team dynamic of Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn all working and living together as the Sisterhood of the Kick-ass Pants, helping rid the streets of Gotham from third-string villains and schmos. Paul Dini is doing such a good job these days in the Batman Universe, that this title is well worth the money. Add in the glorious art, and $3 for a title like this is a total bargain!

Daredevil #119 - With this title being away for so long, it took me a few minutes to recollect what happened in #118. Cool to see Kingpin back to his usual ways of stabbing people in the back, and being untrustworthy in general because come on; he's the Kingpin. I'll be honest, I missed this title when it was away. It's a guaranteed good read every time I pick it up, so I just hope it doesn't take as long for the next issue to come out.

Dark Avengers / Uncanny X-Men - Utopia #1 - Nice read, but I'll pass on this event. I love Fraction as a writer, but I just got done with the Messiah War crossover, and don't feel like participating in the same song and dance, only this time paying a dollar more on each title. Who didn't see the riots in the streets happening? The X-Men always get attacked by protesters when one guy or one mutant makes the first move. A fight is always going to happen!

Secret Warriors #5 - Holy shit, what an issue! You have Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos versus HAMMER versus HYDRA, all on one helicarrier! Add in his Secret Warriors at the end, and it only increases the chaos. The art is great, the story is great, everything about this series is just great!

Uncanny X-Men #512 - I had a really fun time with this issue, probably because it focused on just the X-Club going back in time to study the origins of the modern day mutant generation. Hellfire Club makes an appearance with the first ever Sentinel, and you had some sadder moments at the end. Overall, this issue alone is a drastic improvement from the past couple of issues, probably because I wasn't annoyed with the art.

Superman #689 - Didn't read it, just flipped through it. Pass.

Thor #602 - Oh continuity, you fickle bitch! This must have taken place before Stephen Strange lost the mantle as Sourceror Supreme, because he uses all his magics to replace Thor's hammer. I personally like the fact that a little bit of Thor is in the hammer now, because it makes his connection with it a little more cooler. If the hammer dies, then he dies, and vice versa. Fun issue, hopefully the stories will remain top notch when JMS finally leaves the title.

Guardians of the Galaxy #15 - Holy insanity, Batman! Not only are both Shi'ar and Kree forces in the same place, but they're fucking up the Guardians base! It's like an interstellar kegger gone wrong this issue, and some jackass thought it would be funny to bring up politics! Very jam-packed issue, and a totally worthwhile War of Kings crossover. Chaos! Blood! Talking dogs! I AM GROOT!

Wolverine: Weapon X #3 - It's not retreating, it's advancing in another direction! Very cool to see Logan lure them into the jungle, then take them out one by one. I have a question; if I can have cool laser claws too, where can I sign-up?

Justice Society of America #28 - Perhaps Jerry Ordway should just stick to art, because I found these past two issues really confusing. New creative team, ASAP!

Nova #26 - Guess who's back, back again? Nova Prime's back, tell a friend! Killer issue, and it's so nice to see Rich back in the blue and gold Prime outfit! And like I called it, his younger brother might not make it through the event. I'm just saying; I called it.

X-Force #16 - Alas, the conclusion to the Messiah War event, and goddamn was it awesome! Just when Stryfe thinks he's won the day, Apocalypse comes in and fucks his shit up! The dude gets tossed around like a ragdoll, and it's awesome. This series was such a fun read over the past few months, and well worth the money. I might be tempted to sell my single issues for when the hardcover comes out, because I liked it that much.

Astonishing X-Men #30 - A lot of people don't like Bianchi's art on this title, but I have to respectfully disagree; I think it fits the current story Ellis is telling perfectly. It has this grit-meets-steampunk type of style to it, and compliments the story. Nice little ending to this arc, and just remember kids; Forge is crazy. Don't take any candy he offers you, just go run and tell a parent.

Thunderbolts #133 - Although I don't know this new team as much as I'd like to, I am enjoying it. Ghost seems like a cool character, and I like the fact that Black Widow has a few secrets of her own, including who she's really working for!

Justice League of America #34 - Does anyone even care anymore?

Dark Wolverine #75 - I was very surprised that I found myself enjoying this issue. Pleasantly surprised, actually. I've never been a fan of how Way was writing Daken in Wolverine: Origins, but in this series he's one cool and badass motherfucker! Screwing with peoples emotions by just using his pheromones? Really cool. And I like the dysfunctional family that is the Dark Avengers, and how Bullseye and Daken have it out for each other. Makes for a fun read, and I will be checking out the next issue for sure.

Avengers: The Initiative #25 - Cool ending to a marvelous series. I've been a fan of this title ever since the first issue, and it certainly did a good job of making it this far. I like the fact that Tigra and Gauntlet are getting the shit end of the stick, and aren't going to let Osborn run and ruin their lives. Good-bye Osborn Initiative, hello New Warriors!

Dark Reign: The Hood #2 - Meh, kind of a let down this issue. He doesn't kill the gal who was trying to kill him? That seems kind of un-Hood like. The Hood I know would take pleasure in killing a would-be assassin.

Dark Reign: Elektra #4 - Exciting issue! Fun to see Hawkeye and Elektra go head-to-head, and she still puts up a fight in her fragile state. Add in Wolverine to the rescue, and things are going to get bloody.

Viking #2 - Meh. Stick with Northlanders.

Wonder Woman #33 - Finally she does something cool! She cut Ares head in two! Pretty badass, but too bad she's no longer an Amazon.

Avengers / Invaders #12 - It's finally over! And alas, the ending isn't worth the wait at all.

Dark Reign: Zodiac #1 - Like a majority of the Dark Reign titles, this isn't worth the money. Skip it.

Teen Titans #72 - It was fun to see Traci 13 and Aquagirl both going after the same guy (Jamie), but that's about it. The Ravanger story in the back isn't worth the money, and it's a shame too because she's such a cool character.

Northlanders #18 - Very fun read! This issue reminded me of Ennis' The Night Witches, only with vikings. Brian Wood continues to amaze me every issue with all his knowledge on vikings, and if you love vikings like I do then this series is a must!

Wolverine: Noir #3 - Why is it that the four-issue mini-series always seem to take the longest to come out? And when they finally do come out, it's not worth the wait at all.

Final Crisis Aftermath: Ink #2 - Oh no! His tattoos have a mind of their own! Boooring.

Dark Reign: Lethal Legion #1 - See my review on Dark Reign: Zodiac.

Madame Xanadu #12 - I liked the last issue, but not this one.

Predator #1 - I thought the Predators were all about cloaking and camouflage? What are they doing running around the middle east in broad daylight?

Zorro #14 - This was a very fun issue, and read really fast! I liked the idea of the General dressing up as Zorro to give him a bad name, only to be caught and fought by the real Zorro! The 'Z' scar that he leaves doesn't come out with soap, that's for sure!

Red Sonja #45 - Red Sonja as a samurai? Pretty cool (and good looking) especially when she has to face an army of the undead.

William Shatner Presents: Tek War #1 - While it makes for an interesting story, something tells me Shatner is diving into the comic book market just so he can make a movie of his series down the line. I mean, he even has his own character in this issue!

More titles to come when I find time to review them all!
