Lets get this ball rollin'!
Batman and Robin #1 - Hands-down my pick of the week. Morrison and Quitely are the fantastic team on any book, and this first issue has completely restored my faith in both Morrison and his writing of Batman. Add Quitely's beautiful- nay, gorgeous art with the creative use a sound effects, and you have yourself one helluva book. Perfect jumping-on point for anyone who was wanting to get into Batman.
Dark Avengers #5 - Why is Atlantis (that how it looks to me anyways) attacking from out of the blue (literally; water = blue, nevermind)?! Namor is apart of the Cabal for crying out loud! Anyways, I enjoyed Norman reminding the public about Clint's troubled past as well; it was a nice rebuttal. And has Marvel Boy now become Marvel Man? Fun issue, I just don't think it's worth the $4 price tag though.
Amazing Spider-Man #596 - A plan so simple on how to get into the Avengers Tower, that I'm surprised Peter didn't think of it before. Nice team-up with Sue, and very cool Venom costume thanks to Reed. Can't wait to see what Norman has planend for Harry!
Superman: World of New Krypton #4 - It just bugs me about continuity for all three Green Lantern characters, because I'm enjoying that seperate event (Blackest Night) more than this one. Other than that, it was an 'okay' issue in my opinion.
Captain Britain & MI:13 Annual - I'm not very familiar with Meggan, only thing I know is that she's Captain Britain's wife. That being said, I was very confused with the whole issue, and just resorted to flipping through the pages without reading the words towards the end. Love the regular series and I'm sad to see it go, but this Annual didn't do it for me.
War of Kings #4 - Didn't have the UMPH like the first three did, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Poor Praetor.
Secret Six #10 - It was nice to see Bane struggling with his venom addiction, and Savage being a dear and helping him through with it. The current situation doesn't seem to be all that great for the Six, but I have a feeling lots of blood will be coming next issue. Fun read.
Scalped #29 - If there's one way to go cold turkey from drugs, I suggest get in a foiled casino heist. That DEFINITELY woke Dash up, and makes him start coming clean; both from drugs, and telling Carol he's FBI. Very creative death with the main heister, and all it took was a quick turn of the torso. Action-packed issue, and I'm loving it!
Agents of Atlast #6 - I really liked this issue. First of all, that Lenil Yu cover is beautiful, and the story of Namora and Namor in Atlantis was very enjoyable. I'm always a fan when Namor is involved. Great art, good story, very solid issue.
The Boys #31 - I thought it'd be all hype when they were announcing that everything would change this issue, especially after a pretty 'meh' previous arc. Turns out they weren't kidding! Shit just got personal, and the Female is going going to be avenged BIG TIME! Very good issue, and completely gets me hooked again on this awesome series.
Deadpool: Suicide Kings #3 - Granted, it wasn't as funny or action-packed like the first two issues, but it was still enjoyable. Daredevil and Punisher fit nicely for the feel of the story.
The Mighty #5 - The big reveal! Alpha One isn't the kind of boy scout we're lead to believe, and is actually a stone-cold dick! Very creepy issue by Peter Tomasi, and I can't wait to see how Captain Cole is going to take him down.
Jonah Hex #44 - It was pretty gruesome with the bodies falling from the sky in the beginning from the twister! Very cool opening to an issue. I'm pretty stoaked about this 6-part story arc, because I love the one-shots that usually happen, but this is looking to be a kick-ass event in the Jonah Hex universe.
House of Mystery #14 - Cool reveal from Fig's father, and interesting story told by the escape. Werewolves in the Middle East? Haven't heard that one before! Very interesting.
Solomon Grundy #4 - Stay for the art, but don't stick around for the story.
Punisher MAX: Naked Kill #1 - Felt like the writer was trying to channel the more shock & awe kind of writing of Ennis. Basically it's the Punisher taking down a snuff film studio, and killing a guy (rather anti-climactically) named 'Eleventhree' because that's how big he gets when he literally tears the girls a new one. It just seemed like an excuse to be graphic, crude, and show lots of fucked-up shit. Bring Jason Aaron onboard already! He'll rescue this sinking title.
Black Panther #5 - Okay, I want T'Challa back, but I know that Marvel won't kill-off Storm for him. So how am I going to get the best of both worlds? You can sacrifice the new chick, and that would be fine with me. Maybe that's how she'll get the Panther God's respect; by making the ultimate sacrifice for her country, and bringing back the mighty T'Challa.
Conan The Cimmerian #11 - I sometimes dislike the issues of comics where cursive is the font, because I have a hard time reading it quickly. The art in this issue really matches the story's grit and dark tone very nicely, and Conan is still one badass dude.
Werewolves on the Moon VS Vampires #1 - What the hell did I just read?! Save your money and skip this 'gem'.
What did YOU get??
