So far...

Batman: Battle For The Cowl #2 - I remember back when issue one came out, I was very hesitant to pick this event up. I loved Dini's one-shots, but I felt so badly burned by Batman R.I.P. that I wasn't sure if I was ready or not to succumb to that sort of pain and torture again. But luckily I was feeling like a masochist that day, because the first issue alone blew me away.

I wasn't all that familiar with Tony Daniel and his work at the time, I just knew he did some Teen Titans art. So could this guy really do an event with a cast as diverse as Batman's? Apparently he could, and he's brought back the fun and enjoyment of reading a Batman story.

The cliff-hanger of Jason Todd in his Batman outfit with guns a-blazin' from issue one was burned into my mind. With issue two, I have all sorts of new images burned into my mind to accompany it!

First let me just say that I really like Jason Todd as Batman. It really fits well in the current state of Gotham, and reflects the lawlessness of both heroes and villains. And the fact that he built his own underground Batcave? That shows his dedication right there. Like he tells Dick in their little conversation, he brought the Batman mantle back from the dead while Dick did nothing a let it stayed burried. And although wrong, I did enjoy seeing him shoot Damien to make his getaway.

And while I like seeing Tim run around in the classic costume, I just think he's still too short and doesn't carry much presence like Jason or Dick does. However, when Tim was beating Jason in the face with a crowbar, that was a major OH SNAP! moment for me.

Lastly, the gang wars of Gotham. Black Mask refuses to be seen as a Z-List villain, and is slowly taking Gotham away from both Two Face and The Penguin. When you have all the inmates at Arkham Asylum as your own personal army, you make sure things get done.

So at the end of the day, I was mesmerized by this issue. This has become such a fun event, that it takes any of that Batman R.I.P. taste out of your mouth. Tony Daniel has proven to us that he has the chops to write and draw this event, and I say let him do whatever he wants on future books.

Action, plot-twists, and great villains are what make Batman an enjoyable read. This issue covers all that and more.

Solomon Grundy #2 - While the back story of Grundy bores me, the interaction between him and Bizzaro in this issue made it an enjoyable read. They don't even need any dialogue in this issue. I'd pay a dollar more if I could get this issue with just the art, and no speech bubbles.

Because lets talk about the art. Kolins' art on this issue is just balls-to-the-wall fantastic. It makes the fights so much more grittier, yet pleasant to the eye, all at the same time. I've always been a fan of his art, and that's the only reason I'm picking up this title every month.

Now if they could get him on the Flash re-launch, that'd be wonderful.

More to come later!

All-New Savage She-Hulk #1 - I was a fan of She-Hulk back in Civil War, but not so much afterward. This new series just didn't get me interested period.

BPRD: The Black Goddess #4 - Dragons vs Frogs! Another exciting issue, and just one more left!

Captain Britain & MI:13 #12 - Cool little mode of transportation Dracula is working on. Other than that, can't wait until the next issue.

Daredevil: Noir #1 - So far it hasn't grabbed me like Spider-Man: Noir did. But then again it's better than X-Men: Noir, so that's saying something. I'll be picking up issue two regardless.

Dark Reign: Hawkeye #1 - Meh. Bullseye should have been aware that there would be repercussions. He's an Avenger now, and needs to keep the killing to a low profile.

Deadpool: Suicide Kings #1 - When I saw it was from the same writer who gave us the Games of Death one-shot, I was very hesitant to pick it up. But I did anyways, and so far this issue makes-up for that bad one-shot.

Echo #11 - Moore's art on this title has been consistently wonderful. It makes the action so much more wonderful.

Green Lantern #39 - My precious...Really liking the greediness of these new lanterns, and can't wait to see the Oans fight yet another lantern corps in the midst of battling all the others so far. And poor Hal; the dude needs some serious vacation time after all this.

House of Mystery #12 - Liked the tale from the bar patron in this issue. Another cool scene was when the bar goes into 2-D. Reminded me of the Paper Mario video game.

Infinite Horizon #4 - Hey! I vaguely recall this title from a few years ago. Sadly, I don't recall what happened in the first three issues (it's been a while), but good for them for getting back in the game. I'll just wait for the trade.

Marvel Zombies 4 #1 - Someone shoot this title in the head and be done with this genre.

Northlanders #16 - While I was a bit confused with the time line of this issue, Ryan Kelly's art is just so goddamn gorgeous! And Vasilis Lolos on art next issue? Hot damn!

Punisher MAX #69 - Cool cliffhanger! Something tells me a lot more people are going to be dead next issue. It's simple; you just can't kill Frank Castle.

Secret Six #8 -
Fun double-date issue, but I really had fun with Ragdoll's dream at the end. Makes me want a Tiny Secret Six vs Tiny Titans one-shot.

Solomon Grundy #2 - Yeah, I'd pay $1 extra if they'd remove the text and just give me the art. Kolin's art on Grundy vs Bizarro is just such eye candy!

Superman: World of New Krypton #2 - Aw man, why do you have to try and involve Hal Jordan in this series?? Leave him alone!

The Sword #16 - Every time this title comes out, my jaw hits the ground, just like Dara's! Only she can actually reattach hers apparently.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - Skottie's art is just so wonderful in this series. His interpretation of Dorothy is just as cute as a button! And the flying monkeys? Awesomely creepy!

Titans #12 - NOBODY CARES ABOUT JERICHO!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MOVE-ON TO SOMETHING ENTERTAINING!!!

Ultimate Wolverine VS Hulk #4 - Very cool twist on who is actually She-Hulk. Two more jam-packed issues left, and I can't wait. Maybe if I'm lucky, this will be a hardcover on my shelf by the end of the year.

War Of Kings: Ascension #1 - Unless you're Darkhawk's #1 Fan, you can skip this crossover.

Wolverine: Weapon X #1 - Although not much action happened, it's a nice little set-up for things to come for Wolverine. In Jason Aaron we trust!
