I really enjoyed this episode guys. What was the site that had the thousands of photos you were describing? I did not catch it. A couple of quick points:
1. I'd love to hear your comments on the LOST action figures. I am addicted to the show at the moment but never picked these up.
2. If you need someone to discuss some of Barbie's history let me know. We discuss the doll in our Intro to Pop Culture class at BGSU. A new book just came out about a week ago on Ruth Handler, Barbie's creator. Perhaps you can track down the author for an interview. There are Barbie documentaries and they even did an entire "Biography" tv show on Barbie!

I love this episode of Toys. It was bittersweet listening because I was supposed to be there with my boss from the comic shop but she got sick and didn't offer for me to go alone.
The DC cosbabies are so freaking cute! It's so hard not to collect things. I have to remind myself that I'm broke and have no space! Ah, the mantra of a comic fan....
I have to agree about the Tonner dolls. They are very nice but there's something off about the style. I prefer Barbie every time.
Even though I missed ToyFair, I did get to talk to some Hasbro guys at the Marvel booth in NYCC. They were very excited to show me the new mini action figures that are coming out because they have a classic Firestar. The design is very retro. The Firestar figure looks exactly like one that I bought which was manufactured in 1997. They about 1/3 the size of your standard a/f so there may be small parts but overall, there appeared to be good joint articulation for acting out your own battles.
This is a picture of the one I have and the new one. The flames are bit different and the new mask is more 3D instead of flush against her face.
According to MarvelousNews.cm: Exclusively to Toys R' Us will be 3-packs. One set will be Spider-Man and his amazing friends with Spider-Man, Firestar and Iceman.

BAH! 18th scale *IS* the standard! Every other scale sucks and blows at the same time!
Actually, I was really disappointed at the brevity of the discussion about the Marvel *Universe* line, especially since the craptactular DCIH line got like 4 times the discussion time. I've been yearning for a good 18th, fully articulated line of superheroes since the original Secret Wars line didn't meet my needs. And now Hasbro's gonna give me 24 bitchin' figs in twelve 2packs each with an issue of the comic packed in. Awesomest news from a Toy Fair in like 15 years. Hell, this MU line and the Wolverine: Origins line deserve their own episode!
Also, with the movie coming down the pipe, I'd be glad to help with a GI Joe episode, altho I'm pretty strictly a fan of the Real American Hero line and it's spawn. The 12" figs were before my time, so I can't help much there.

I second the need for a GIJoe episode, and I'd be willing to participate too. There is so much good GIJoe product coming out these days, and the down economy is the perfect time to grap up some really nice affordable classic 80's stuff as well.

DCBS Pull List:
Marvel: Uncanny X-Men, New Mutants, X-Men Forever, Amazing Spider-Man, Invincible Iron Man, Powers
DC: Batman, Detective, Batman: Odyssey, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps
IDW: G.I.Joe (Main, Origins, Cobra, A Real American Hero), Transformers (ongoing)
Other: Conan (TPB), Savage Sword of Conan (TPB), Invincible (HC)

I can understand that, there is a bit more I wanted to hit and we can re-visit the Marvel line too. I actually saw them in store the other day and can talk a bit better about them.
We also will be doing GI JOE but that is gonna need more than one, just like Star Wars will eventually.
Thanks for the input.

Give it another few months to let the figs hit saturation and maybe the first wave of Secret Wars 2packs hit and then give them a dedicated episode along with the Wolvie: Origins figs, plz.
And my offer stands regarding the Joe episode. My voicemail recording sounds like Sloth (of "SLOTH LOVE CHUNK' fame) talking thru a wet towel so you probably wouldn't want me on the actual show; but give me a heads-up about questions y'all have and I can get answers for you.

I can take it! Just try and argue with me that Barbie is a bad influence on girls and should be outlawed and I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN.

Why would I argue that Barbie's a bad influence on girls when Barbie's a bad influence on everyone?

Those Brave and the Bold figures are tempting. I can't start collecting another line of figures, but I love that Red Tornado and some of the villains. I was thinking of buying just one, but that never works
And those Tonner dolls freak me out
