So today, FRIDAY, is when us Yanks get our comics this week (thanks to all the holiday madness). So since I'm busy this weekend anyways, no review show for this week.

However, post what you love in this thread (like I'm going to), and lets chat it up!

BRB, off to get some comics!

I'll post my reviews later, but by god; this week is made of so much win, that I've decided to do an episode after all (although it'll be released early next week) with only a Fast Five! of Top Picks!

Here come my reviews, thick n' fast 'cos I've urgent coursework to be cracking on with!

Kick-Ass #5: Top issue, as always the concept for this series continues to amaze me, Millar really drives it home with his 'pulp' style take on a wannabe superhero in the real world. This issue had great writing as always and super artwork from JRJr! This issue has come under come criticism about not being so realistic any more after #4 for something which claims to be set in a real world, but I think this issue metaphorically gave those critics a kick in the teeth, way to show 'em Marky!
4/5

Batman #684: Continuing the Nightwing story which started in last months issue of Detective comics... mehh.. it was okay, not bad, but nothing spectacular. Holds up the continuity nicely though, its in perfect harmony with wherever Batman is right now, making it an understandable read.
3/5 (nothing great)

JSA #22: A great issue, I thought the ending to the Gog story was a little rushed and it all ended incredibly quickly, but nonetheless, it was enjoyable. Great artwork on all fronts! Great writing on all fronts. Its good to have this story arc, it was great, but now Im saying "bring on the next one!" BLACK ADAM RISES!!
4/5

Avengers: The Initiative#20: Setting continuity straight, which is what simple-minded folk like me need and want! This was a very delicious and satisfying issue! Top art and the story was so great because it tied up some loose ends in the aftermath to Secret Invasion, and started a new plot as well. Great issue, funny as well, in true Slott & Gage style! A top Dark Reign book.
5/5

Green Lantern #36: What was bad about this issue you ask? Nothing, thats what! Those Blue Lanterns are awesome, I love that idea and I thought everything was explained really well about how their rings work absorbing 'will' and 'hope' and whatnot! I am really interested to see if Hal does become their leader! That would be kinda cool!
Red Lantern bit of the story was awesome! Sinestro had some epic lines there, gave me the chills!!!
SEEMS LIKE A GREAT PLOT IDEA TOO!!! Loving it! I want more!!
5/5

You're right Cammy, an outstanding week!

I heart.gif JSA 22!!! That was amazing artwork & a powerful ending to a long arc but was very enjoyable w/ every issue including the one shots specials. But a Marvel book topped JSA just by the shocking reveal of Wolverine 70, WOW just WOW!!! it just blew me way. Green Lantern 36 has me hooked (as an Johns title would) however w/ JSA 22 great ending I believe GL 36 maybe overlooked just a bit. Do you want this 5 course meal by Geoff Johns or this 5 course meal also by Geoff Johns, hell have both of them and you are OVERSTUFFED w/ Johns goodness. I am saving New Krypton arc parts 7-9 for tomorrow. Off to read another Ult. Spider-Man HC.

Matthew

PS
I hope the GOP are just a small group of stupid Red Lanterns that Obama can put some kickass on for the next 8 years.
