This is what I picked up at fifty cents a pop:

Adam Strange (2004 mini) - 3 and 8 (actually picked up a few more issues as well, but they were dupes and are going into the Comic Trade-athon pile for next Super Show.

Adventure Comics # 423
All-Star Comics #63
Astonishing Tales 27, 28, 30 (Deathlok issues)
Batman #133, 252, 280, 281
Bizarre New World #2 (picked up #1 from Wild Pig at Super Show... one more issue to track down!)
Booster Gold (1986 Series) 6, 7, 21, 23
Captain America (1968 Series) 147, 161, 173, 176, 192 (plus some dupes not listed)
The Crew - 1-3, 6
Fantastic Four (1961 Series) 185, 199, 204, 205, 208, 210-212
Fantastic Four Annual 12
The Flash (1959 Series) 246, 248, 251, 252, 258, 260, 264, 269
Freedom Fighters 5, 9, 12, 14
The Gray Area 2, 3 (Romita Jr mini... I bought the first issue when it came out but thought it was over-priced. Not at fifty cents, it isn't!)
Incredible Hulk (1968 Series) 195, 199, 207, 209
Marvel Tales #45
Nova (1976 Series) 5,7,9
O.M.A.C. (1974 Series) 1,2,4,5,7
Omega the Unknown (2007 Series) #1 (picked up 2-10 from Wild Pig at the Super Show!)
Our Army at War #203
Phantom Stranger (1969 Series) 9,11
Plastic Man (70's series) 15
RASL 1
Rom 6,17,38
Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos 141
SHAZAM! 1,2,12,15,23,25
Space Adventures 11 (Charlton, with Captain Atom on the cover)
Spectacular Spider-Man (1976 Series) 32-34,36,47,58
Star Trek: Klingons- Blood Will Tell 1B
Suburban Glamour 1-4
Suicide Squad (1987 Series) 4-12, 15, 16
Superman (1939 Series) 388,391,398
Tales to Astonish (1979 Series) 1,8
Thor, Vol. 1 242,274
Tor (2008 Series) 2-6 (already had 1.)
World's Finest Comics 241
X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills: Special Edition

Also a whole buncha stuff for the kids. I got Conner all the Dark Horse reprints of Marvel's Star Wars series that covered the movies... two issues for each movie and a very nice collection... I was tempted to keep them for myself. Plus an odd assortment of Batman Adventures, Star Wars Droids, Flinstone Kids, etc. and practically a complete set of Leave it To Chance. Plus many more that I can't remember and are not in my database because they aren't mine.

Oh, and I won a cool ass Batman statue from the Black and White set as well. Twas a good day... I wish I had more "hanging out" time though. We pretty much bought our stuff, had lunch and then left.

We waited and waited for you, but alas, you were never to be found.

I really wanted you to see my brother's comic boxes. I think you would really like them.

I thought it was hilarious when I saw a copy of Malbu/Bravura's Power and Glory on display in the boxes... I remember taking it to the Comics Trade-athon! thumbsup_anim.gif

gotta say i'm impressed with bryan's (or whoever shipped my stuff) efforts in shipping items (referring to the problems with the puppet rios buttons).

i got my supershow t-shirt prize package in a 12 x 18ish box with several CGS prints shipped flat (to Canada) when they could have been rolled up and probably shipped for less. thumbsup_anim.gif

Now I'm doubly sad...had no idea your bro's comic boxes would be on display. Now that we're settled into the new house, I have a comic room that is literally concrete walls and industrial carpet floor [it was the old owner's gym] and I am formulating a plan of action to turn it into my comics haven. Those boxes might be just what the doctor ordered.

I view my inability to go this weekend as karma though. Realistically with the market down as much as it is and us carrying two mortgages, there is no Earthly reason for me to spend $$$ on back issues and trades right now; yet my wife [who's a saint] would've sent me on my merry way without a word b/c she knows how hard i work and how much comics are a stress reliever.

While I promised myself if I went I would've kept my spending in check [which i was defining at $100 or less], the reality of the moment and the awesome deals all over the place would've had me spending $300-$400 easily [I don't think I've ever spent less than that at a WP sale] and I would've felt very guilty about that on the drive home.

Hopefully the market will bottom out by the time the next WP sale comes around and I can be back to buying stuff guilt free.

I fully intended to go, but my cold was in full bloom on Saturday. I really didn't want to do that to a bunch of geeks in a very confined space.
It's just as well, a family thing popped-up later in the afternoon that needed my attention ASAP, so I guess it was fate I was supposed to stay home.
I'm sitting here at work staring at my MapQuest directions and my comics list. Oh well, two less things to do for the next sale.
I was gonna spend the entire day there too . . . without Vince! Just to prove he doesn't operate me by remote control.

Listen to the 'MATINEE IDLES' podcast

Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison
