Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison

Cheadle is 44 and Howard is 39 per IMDB.

Robert Downey Jr. is 43. By that rationale, wouldn't he be too old to play Iron Man? Cheadle and Howard are both phenomenal actors, as is Downey. I say, it's a wash, as to who will play Jim Rhodes.

Although, I'm intrigued by Marvel Films contract negotiations. Marvel Films almost lost director Jon Favreau due to their penny-pinching efforts and scheduling, and I'm wondering if the suits are being a little too greedy or if Mr. Howard was asking for a little too much.

It's not a case of being greedy. It's a case of trying desperately not to make the same financial mistakes that most movie studios do. Making big budget studio films is a horrendously inefficient and, most times, the net profit margins are minimal.

I understand, but Iron Man far exceeded everybody's expectations. I would see that as a reason why Mr. Howard would ask for a little more.
But we don't know what he asked for and what Marvel was willing to give. At least they found a solid replacement.

As long as they're still looking at putting strong actors in these movies, I'm on board. As long as someone addresses him as Rhodey at some point, we've got all the setup we need.
