Hey!
I figured someone would start this type of post...

Now, I know it isn't over. But I could only get there on Saturday. In no particular order:
The "Lem Fastnacht" Poster
Meeting John The Greek
Geeting Silver Surfer #1(second series) for 40 cents.
Pasquale's Flash
Seeing my comic peeps(except Keener...nobody cares for him).

And I just wanted to say how nice everyone was and how great it was to meet/see you all.

I also could only make it today, Saturday, but as for a "favorite" moment, I don't know...

Free Pretzels! Whoever it was who got those… thanks for the pretzel! It sure was tasty thumbsup_anim.gif

Besides that, it was all good… dropping some money at the InStockTrades, Wild Pig Comics, and Golden Eagle Comics tables was lots of fun… and seeing all of the creators was really cool (even though I wasn’t spending money on sketches, just a few interesting looking single issues, everyoneI talked to was friendly and I had a bunch of good conversations)... it is certainly the creators that make the show.

I can't wait until everyone else hears this episode! We laughed, we cried!

The entire event was fantastic, seeing everyone again, meeting new faces, buying my autographed hardcover copy of David Petersen's "Mouse Guard: Fall 1152" with a cute little mouse sketch, chatting with Steve Bryant, Wayne Cordova, Raph, Danielle Corsetto, and many, many other people!

The tribute to Lem was such a tear-jerker. Having his wife and two sons there was nothing but wonderful. Many of us were in tears.

Then to make us all laugh, Charlito puts on his puppet show! Words cannot describe how hilarious this was. I can't wait to see it all again on YouTube!

And I think Paul French outdid his last year's performance by singing another wonderful song.

I'm just sorry I didn't win the raffle for the Jam Piece!

See you there again tomorrow! More sketches!

This was my first time at any of the shows. I had a blast!!! thumbsup_anim.gif
Thank you guys at Geek Speak for following your passon and creating such a great place for us all.
What I loved the most was that everyone knew each other. It felt more like a family reunion than a convention.

I had a great time meeting so many great writers and artist.

Comfort Love and Adam Withers, you guys are amazing. The Uniques are the most amazing twist on the superhero genre that I have read in a long time. The writng is brillant and the art is powerful. The whole begining scene with the UN was powerful. I'm kicking my self for not getting the Graphic Novel.
Don't worry about Diamaond. The rebel forces are on thier way to kick ass and thier flagship is "The Uniques".

Before coming to the show I had a illogical fear of lawn Gnomes. After checking out some of Dave Dwonch art I feel free. They are just our protecters. Good talking to you Dave.

I now have taken up Balloon art. They were amazing. Great stuff "Balloons by Pasquele" True Pop Art at it's best. Wish you all the best in you company.

Jun Bob Kim. I love your art. It was great to meet you and talking to you about your art. See you on the post.

Danielle Corsetto - The Sweetheart of the show. I love your amazing webcomic. Anyone who can get me to read a comic with a Talking Irish Cactus has much skill. Much props. Girls with Slingshots Roc!!!

Wayne Cordova - You are the man. Thanks for letting me hang with you and bask in you and Harold M.I.M.E. success. It was great to meet you at the show. Remeber Buddy, lunch is always better when your digging for the Gold.

And last but not least, my buddy Harold Jennett. M.I.M.E. kicks Ass!!! To be there when all you comics sold out was a honor. I know how hard it was to get M.I.M.E. done and it ready paid off. Proud of you buddy. Your dreams and talents are gifts from God. Gifts to share with the world. Thanks for sharing M.I.M.E. with us all.

Untill next reunion,
Mojo

In short, everything. I had an awesome time and got some incredible stuff while I was there. Dave Wachter, Dave Dwonch, David Peterson, Avery, Harold, Big Jim, JunBob, Alex, Jamal, Ryan and Brent; You guys all knocked it WAY out of the park!

Most of all though, I would like to thank everyone at the show for showing my brother Matthew a good time. He has aspergers, so social environments can be a huge challenge for him. To Shane, Brian, Peter, Pants, Adam, JunBob, Big Jim, Brad, Chad, Frank, Paul, Ken, Art, Katie, Harold, Dave, Brent, David and his wife and any of the other numerous people we met over the weekend who not only were extremely understanding and patient, but made sure to say hi, chat with him about his time there and indulge him in his crazy sketch ideas; thank you. It means more than words can say.
Dan

I thought it was getting free comic porn! Bruce. Bruce. Bruce. thumbsdown_anim.gif

For me, it was also more like a family reunion where I had relatives that I never met in person. Everyone was welcoming. Sharing the table with Eliza was fan-damn-tastic. I think my husband would have hired her for both days of continuous sketching if he could have. Neighboring Pasquale was awesome! My photos are basically a balloon documentary of the weekend. Running into my old friend New Mutant was a delightful surprise! Then there was Jun Bob, a man who never met me before in person, who took a fair amount of his time just to talk.

Thanks to all the geeks, wives, and volunteers for making it possible! We'll definitely be back.

If I have anyone incorrectly identified in the pics, please let me know. I have video footage too but I'll be needing a special soundtrack first before loading to the u-tube.

Gah...my head is so full of cotton and cobwebs I can't start listing my favorites moments until I'm vertical again.

Thanks for the pretzels GhostWriter! I don't think most of us would have made it through the morning on Saturday without 'em.

When I finally gather my wits, I'll attempt to post something later.

Had a great time and I can't wait until 2009.

I had a great time meeting everyone!

This was my first convention and I could tell it was special! I completely agree with the vibe of feeling like a family reunion.

I just wanted to pop on real quick and throw in my FLICKR link:

as well as the video of Frank and Harold boxing:

IN no particular order (and not all inclusive), the best if it:

Charlito's Musical!!!
Paul's song!
Discussing Final Crisis for over a 1/2 hour with Murd
The drive up with Jimmy, Charlito, and Fred
Lem tribute
Meeting everyone I met

Worst of it:
NOT meeting EVERYONE (damn! 1 day was just NOT enough time!).
Leaving at 1030pm for the drive back to NY while everyone's sitting around laughing it up and boozing!

Danielle Corsetto let me pick her brain about how a person can make the jump to supporting themselves through nothing but their art.

I found out Wayne's a minister, and made fun of him for like a half hour, out of sheer surprise.

Got to meet...damn near everybody.

I've never had a conversation with a colorist before this.

Got to pay my respects to Lem's son.

...oh, and I did confuse iacon for Dave Dwonch, which should be next to impossible tongue.gif

-Getting lost wit Chad while looking for the Deemer house

-Breakfast at Shady Maple. I got maped.

-The first face-to-face of the Legion of Dudes! Much respect to Ken and Russ!

-Seeing Kevin F., Harold, Wayne, Shawn, Shawn, Steph, Paul, Bruce, Bob, Bill, Jun, Brad, Frank, Mario and Jen

-Getting to know Ian and Raph on Thursday night. Guys, I think the three of us should make that a tradition. Hilarious. I mean it!

-Getting crunked with Bruce. I think all we did was drink when we were around each other.

-Meeting Scott, all the guys at Cadence (see you at Baltimore guys), Pasquale, Ken, Art, Sean, Sensei, Russ, Zack, Kyle and his bro, Iacon, John, Gland, Dave (Gargoyle), Vince and Marty.

-Talking politics with Matt Petz (Coma Robot) - hilarious!

-Talking to and getting sketches from - Cousin Buzz, Avery, Buz, Danielle, Erica, Brent, Dave, and Dave

-Meeting everyone from DCBS (Cameron and Zack rock!) and seeing the Golden Eagle and Wild Pig crew again.

-Of course, seeing the Geeks and spending time with Dan and his bro Matthew.

My head is still spinning. Thanks everyone

Thursday there was a great meet up at Deemer's, and I saw the fabled CGS recording studio. I came away with a City of Heroes Strategy Guide. I got started early with the Zur-En-Arrh stuff.

Friday started with simple breakfast. Since I hadn't gotten any sleep at all the night before, I napped the entire afternoon. My apologies to Bryan and co. for not helping to set up, but I was exhausted. Did make it over to Golden Eagle, where I got some stuff from the half off bins. Bought some comics, and paid my respects to Lem to his sons and other folks at the store. Third and Spruce was great, I was pretty low key through most of the night, which probably surprised most people.

Saturday was the start of the con, and what a start! I immediately went over to Linn Workman's table and showed him my Bushi Tales shirt and pimped his books!!! I also picked up sketches and met a whole bunch of people. I was teary eyed whenever Lem came up during the recording. The man has left a legacy that I aspire to. I was nervous as hell doing the interruption for Vince B and Marty, and I screwed up the timing of it. I am sorry to the Geeks and to Vince B, this is why I don't appear on too many podcasts other than mine and Ian's. I'm an unprofessional hack. Charlito broke my brain.

Today was nice and mellow. I was toned down to the Max. I just had fun sitting around, talking to people.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Bill McGonall, the voice of Half Hour Wasted, MUST be here next year! The way I used his "Harold Jennet" repeatedly, has forced his hand. I really wanted to meet him!

To all the other forum members I met: Wayne, Umak, Amber, Bruce in Colorado, Unknown Fanboy, Bob Breitall, Real Gone, Bill, Just Bill, Vince, Marty, Brad and Frank, Michael Finger, Sean and Jim from Raging Bullets, Mongoose, and all the others whose names I've forgotten in my weary stupor: Thank you for a great time, and for being so willing to be within 10 feet of me.

Thanks to Big Jim for picking me and Ian up from Philly. Without you, everyone's sanity wouldn't have taken such a hit. Don't blame me folks, blame him for driving me in.

Thank you to Gargoyle for coming over and being so kind as to chauffeur myself and Ian around. Tearing down the road on the way to Shady Maple and listening to your sat-nav go bonkers is something I will cherish in my memory banks... if only I had them.

Thank you to Erica Hesse, Jun Bob Kim, Steve Bryant, Linn Workman, Dave Beaty, Shawn Pryor, Mike Norton, Katie Cook, David Peterson, Harold Jennet, Ryan Stegman, Jamal Igle, Chad Cicconi, Andrew Charipar, Paolo Belfiore, Mike Imboden, Eliza and all the other artists for putting up with all my stupid BS, and for any art I got from you. Thank you especially to Mike Norton for the awesome free sketch! I look great without a jaw!

Thank you most of all to the Geeks! Bryan, Peter, Kevin, Shane, Murd, Jamie D, Matt and Pants for keeping the show going and making Super Show such a great thing.

The only minus is that I thought I lost my door prize and jam piece raffle tickets. When I got back home, I found them in one of my pockets!!! I was supposed to win at least 2 or 3 different items, but I honestly don't care about that. I got to see old friends, make new ones and get some awesome stuff.

Thank you Jamal for letting me sit at your table and talk your head off and make you responsible for my craziness. You are a true friend and I can't wait to pick up Supergirl!

Thank you Danielle for talking to me and listening to my pitch and for being awesome!

Thank you Linn and Dave for allowing me to promote you so hard and for being okay me screaming BUSHI TALES out every 5 seconds.

Thank you Alan for driving me home, to Jun Bob and Buzz for our Asian solidarity.

Thank you to you all, a nut job like me has no right being accepted by any social groups, and for you to have embraced me, then uncomfortably look away as I create my chaos, is the best I could ask for. I may put on the persona of an egotistical, obnoxious asshole, but I'm really a humble, obnoxious asshole and I thank you all for making my weekend so wonderful

Well it's near four in the morning, Paul just dropped me off, and I gotta go to work in 2 hours, so I guess I might as well forget about sleeping.

I just want to say, that I had a really great time this weekend, fellas. I hope I can come next year and win all your door prizes again! tongue.gif

Seriously though, I think (I hope) that you know that as great as the prizes were, they truly were secondary to the pleasure of meeting all you board-monkeys that were lucky enough to be at the show. Some highlights:

Hanging with Paul again. We're only an hour away from each other, we need to get together more! Thanks for dragging my sorry ass across hundreds of miles to hear both the Supershow song and the terrifying Sleepy Paul song.

Meeting 3 of my podcast idols, Dave Dwonch, Mike Norton and the lovely and talented Vince B. I wish I'd had more time to get over my awkwardness so I could talk to you guys more.

Getting a lot of great sketches, the cream of the crop being Avery Butterworth's Monsieur Mallah and the Brain. It made several drool during the show, thanks a lot.

3rd and Spruce (Um...what little I remember, anyways...)

And of course, Charlito's goddamn puppet depravity.

Thanks, CGS. It was SO worth the trip.
