Downloading it now, thinking on ways to tranfer this to my cellphone without using a cable. (or bluetooth, or anything that requires a decent cellphone tongue.gif)

(I'm gonna say this for the zillionth time: I can't wait to read this. (Next month! Next month!) )

Yesterday was the big 'pre-release' signing at Amoeba, where they sold a bunch of the books (including a pretty shocking number of the HC and ltd editions)

Today was 'video interview day'... almost 7 hours of Tori and I being interviewed for everyone and their dog.

But it went great... tomorrow..(today actually) OFF TO SDCC

Glad to hear that, sir. I imagine that the next days will leave you at the edge of a nervous breakdown.

(Also! I totally forgot to mention this, but about ten days ago I managed to find a copy of Vix! Very nice!)

Just listened to the show. I was certainly intrigued by the book even though Amos is not an artist I really like. CBT sounds really cool! Good luck on getting back to your own work, Rantz!

Yes, good show!

I don't know Ms. Amos's work at all (though I've certainly heard her name many times), but it sounds like these two have really set the standard for comics/music cross-pollination.

The book is so beautiful!!!

A lot of the art has this lush color that made me feel like I was looking at film stills, rather than comics.

Awesome stuff and congratulations!!!

Great story about the comic's gestation- really makes you think twice before writing off the friend-of-a-friend artist who aspires to be famous one day. Can't say I have any Tori Amos in my music collection, but being reminded of her stuff by looking it up on youtube, it is clear that she is talented.

Technology is dangerous.

I listened to this ep. on the way home.

Got there, whipped out my blackberry, and bought online from Amazon, via the browser.

It took under 3 minutes, cuz it was already in my wishlist.

over 400 pages, 12 x 12 and it dented Rantz's desk!!

I can't wait for that heavy tome to get here!

Not for nothin', but: let the record show that Charlito followed his jokes at the end about "packing fudge" with the line: "Man, I'm so hot right now!" Just sayin'. whistle.gif

(God, I should never post when I'm this tired.)

Great episode! Hope you're having a blast in SD.

Really enjoyed this episode. Comic Book Tattoo will be in my next DCBS shipment, and I cannot wait! I've been a total Tori fan since I bought Little Earthquakes at Music-land in Waterloo, IA - too many year ago.

I'm pretty sure the dino-artist C-lito is trying to remember at the end of this ep is William Stout. biggrin.gif

And I thought for sure it was the Dinotopia guy, James Gurney. He's been showing up a lot lately doing presentations and such for the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, so I thought of him when museum work got mentioned.

Hey! I like Belle & Sebastian!! (and happen to be in that anthology...)

Anyhoo, I have been hearing about this book here and there. I had some pals doing stories for it, but I'm not super familliar with Amos's music, so I was only mildly curious. But after hearing this show, now I really want to see the book! I'll have to pick this up... So, were you saying it's a square format?

I've been a long time not-a-fan of Tori. That "bouncing on the top of the clouds" song is the first song I've heard by Tori that I don't hate. BUT this interview makes me want to check out the book. It was quite good. I don't know if I can afford the book right now, but I totally gonna check it out.

The book is simply gorgeous. The artwork, the design, the packaging.
Bravo, Rantz and company! I can't wait to read it!

Oh, and it is heavy as f#ck.

I had mixed feelings about Belle & Sebastian. It's not that I don't like them, but when I hear them I feel I'm missing something?
Everything made sense when I heard Paul Pope in a video saying that "They're too clever"

Now I know why I haven't heard anything about the shipping costs for my copy.

(shaking in terror)

And! Very nice show, it was great to hear about the process behind this.

Hm, I could see that being a complaint. I don't know which B&S records you've heard, but I personally prefer their first several albums (pre-Dear Catastrophe Waitress, when they were on Matador), where I think they had a much more honest sound. Now, I still like them, but they are a lot more tounge-in-cheek, which occasionally makes me cringe. rolleyes_anim.gif

Thanks for the kind words all... 22 years of SDCC and I have NEVER had it be that busy/crazy/insane/wonderful. we sold out the HC editions (125 copies) in 3 hours, and had sold out the PB editions (275) in 24 hours. I'm writing a very long report that I'll post here when its ready.

and it was great seeing Mr. Phil again, and seeing Charlito for the first time (even if we did not just drunk together. Actually, I did not drink at ALL the entire con... I knew if I did, i'd be dead. 3 hours sleep a night... wooo boy!)
