I really don't think you will be disappointed. I was totally in your shoes, but I ended up loving it.
Check it out, and we can discuss it in San Diego.

Now, as far as Dungeon goes, you have peaked my curiosity. After I remove myself from the poor-house, where can I find this book again? Thanks!

Bryan and Matt, I can't thank you both enough for recording these episodes and focusing on such a fantastic example of comics at their very best. Today on the way home from work I started Episode #2, and while I've only made it a few minutes into the show, I think it may be one of my favorite podcasts ever. You guys are doing an excellent job right out of the gate, and I can assure you, it is much appreciated.
Shawn, as Bryan mentioned above, you can find all the Dungeon books at Amazon, although the availability of certain volumes fluctuates from week to week -- as does the price to some extent, so I would suggest creating a wishlist (if you haven't already) and adding each of the specific books you're interested in so you can easily monitor the price of each one from day to day.
Also, I woud suggest comparing prices at other online vendors; specifically, Buy.com and Tower.com, both of which carry most of the available Dungeon volumes (in English, at least), and who also offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more for at least some of the Dungeon books. Last night I finally ordered the last three volumes I needed to catch up on the series, and two of the books were out of stock at both Amazon and Buy.com. I checked Tower.com and discovered that, not only did they have both of the books in stock, but they also had the third volume I needed for less than either of the other two vendors, and I ended up getting all three books for $30, which qualified the order for free shipping. So, a little comparison can save you some money, fo' sho!
As far as the chronological order of the stories themselves is concerned, it goes like this:
1. Dungeon The Early Years Vol. 1: The Night Shirt
2. Dungeon Zenith Vol. 1: Duck Heart
3. Dungeon Parade Vol. 1: A Dungeon Too Many
4. Dungeon Parade Vol. 2: Day of the Toads
5. Dungeon Zenith Vol. 2: The Barbarian Princess
6. Dungeon Twilight Vol. 1: Dragon Cemetary
7. Dungeon Twilight Vol. 2: Armageddon
"Dungeon Monstres Vol. 1: The Crying Giant" (available now) and "Dungeon Monstres Vol. 2: The Dark Lord" (solicited in the June issue of Previews, and currently available as a pre-order from the retailers mentioned above) focus on "secondary" characters in the Dungeon universe, and I'm not sure where the stories fall in the overall continuity. And again, this order doesn't necessarily reflect how Bryan and Matt are approaching their analysis of the series, it's just the order in which the stories actually take place.
Mercy... have I made a proper ass out of myself at this point, or what?

Yeah... sooo, I finished the episode around 2:00 this morning and obviously discovered that Matt covers the Dungeon chronology in detail, after the interview with Mr. Johnson (which was absolutely fantastic, by the way). So I wasn't trying to ignore that at all; I just hadn't made it to that point in the episode yet.
Fellas, thanks again for a highly informative and supremely entertaining episode!

It's also worth mentioning that if you WANT to attempt the French -- and getting these books and working 'em side-by-side with the English is a great way to pick up the language -- the first three volumes of each Donjon series are currently bundled for about $30 up here in Quebec: Parade, Zenith, Poitron-Minet (Early Years) and Crépuscule (Twilight). On my bédé site I've got some contact information for various retailers:

I'm really impressed with the Planete BD guys.

Reading American comics I feel like I need a translator sometimes - like anything by Joss Whedon. Love the guy but he has such a bizarre sense of Valley-Girl language or whatever it's supposed to be. I have dubbed it "Buffyspeak" and "Frayspeak" because Fray is even more difficult.
My husband warned me that Narcopolis could use a decoder ring as well. And these are examples of books in English!

Anyway, I've heard of Dungeon, but I didn't know it was done by Sfar (whose work I love love loved on The Professor's Daughter and enjoyed on Sardine) and Trondheim (whose work I love love loved on Mister O and was really icked out by on A.L.I.E.E.E.N.), so that's got my curiosity piqued right there.
