A while ago we recorded an episode of CGS that focused on Kenner's Super Powers toys. It was a very popular episode and a fun one for Shane and Pants. So we decided to launch a new, regular podcast all about toys. To get things started we dug up this classic episode, gave it a new beginning and got the show on the road.

Expect a new episode every 3 to 4 weeks.

Enjoy,

Bry

Great stuff!

Are Shane and Pants the official hosts or will it rotate?

Shane and Pants are the official hosts and they'll have various guests here and there as the episode dictates. I'm sure some of the other CGS guys will join here and there (although I'm fine being behind the scenes as the producer lol).

There are tons of toy fans out there who have nothing to do with comics so, like Bryan's Bede podcast, we're looking to branch out to a new listener group.

Enjoy!

Sweet Christmas! CGS has more spin-offs than Law & Order!

This is great. I don't know how you all do it, but we all applaud you and thank you.

Oh cool! I really enjoyed the Kenner episode when I listened to it in regular CGS continuity, even though I don't really have much association with the toys. I distinctly remember having Lex Luthor, in his green armour, but the rest was a blank until I Googled 'Kenner superpowers'. Various figures look familiar, and I think I may even have had the 'Lex-Soar 7' at some point. Hmm, y'know, the Supermobile looks familiar too... Maybe I did collect those things after all.

I really wish we hadn't got rid of all that stuff while I was a teenager. Why doesn't anyone tell you "No, just wait on, you'll regress back to being 10 years old and loving this junk in a few years"?

Awesome. Just so I'm clear (since I listened to Episode 369 when it came out), is this just a repeat of that episode save for a new intro? In other words, any changes or new content?

I think it's great that you refer to it as "CGS Continuity". Only on a comic message board. thumbsup_anim.gif

Shane and Pants riff for about 10 minutes before the meat of the episode. So that's all new from the original release of the episode.

Ah, nothing says loving like Pantalones and Shane waxing poetic about action figures!

Yuh-huh. If you think about it, there used to be the main CGS podcasts, and the CGS book of the month podcasts, the big event issue review episodes, and so on, none of which were part of the numbered continuity of CGS-1. Then there was obviously some sort of crisis involving a struggle to defeat the anti-podcaster behind the scenes, a Flash got killed, and afterwards all those podcasts got rolled into New CGS. Now - possibly as a result of hyperflies hiding inside Puppet Rios's head pulling its strings - we're discovering that there's a new multiverse of podcasts forming.

I'm not a toy collector but this could be fun. Plus, I don't need much of an excuse to buy my boys new toys so maybe this will give me some ammo for that.

One question though, did you edit this episode down at all from the original? Seems like it's not as long as I remembered.
